Unfortunately, I can't say anything positive

I couldn't recommend working at Wycombe District Hospital. There is a terrible bullying culture that is happening there. It would be a nice place to work for if people just didn't feel the need to treat their fellow work colleagues so poorly.

Stressful.

Pay scales have not improved in the line of cost of living within the last 12 years. Don't always get paid for all the hours you work. Short of staff most of the time.

Pros

Good pension, obviously have to wait till after you're 60 plus. Patients come first.

No one cares about you whatsoever.

No one cares a jot about you in this vast organisation. Only senior staff are valued and the million on low bands are treated with disinterest at best, disdain at worst. They promise you opportunities and advancement but only if you’re qualified. No training opportunities at HCA level, all the hard work passed down by plump and lazy nurses watching giant pension pots grow. Half the staff on sick leave. Half can’t even be bothered to work. No wonder people leaving in droves.

Great benefits but terrible management

Twice I have had the pleasure of working for the NHS in two completely different settings but the management is similar, they're pushy but refuse to deal with issues like bullying which is rife. Other staff can talk to you whichever way they like and treat you like dirt and if you dare to speak up for yourself or a member of your own team you will be managed out of your position and career, which is what has happened to myself. They only think of themselves and will step on anyone to climb that career ladder, they don't want to have to actually do their job of managing their staff properly which is why the NHS have such a bad track record with bullying.The best part is feeling like you are making a difference to the patients and they are usually forever grateful.Hospital outpatients 7 day service positions mean that you will have your days changed weekly which means you don't have a set rota much like the nurses.The benefits are second to none as you are paid from day 1 if you are sick and with each year you get a month per year sick allowance, so year 0-1 it's 1 month plus 1 month half pay, years 1-2 it's 2 months/2 months and so on until you reach 6 years/months.

Underfunding of the NHS has resulted in short staffing and old equipment

Good terms and conditions although guilty of positive discrimination to those with children. If you don't have children and want flexible working -forget it .The effects of years of NHS underfunding is now very evident

It depends on individual. it is a good place to work

What is the best part of working at the company?In the ward mental health hospital What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Reporting staff for minor issue and the management takes action without consideration of the circumstances on the the part of the staff if they don't like you they don't like you no matter your explanation You will be fired What is the work environment and culture like at the company?It is a very good place to work with hard working staff while few of the staff are not suppose to work with in a friendly environment because they brought their frustration to work and if you fall into their trap they will have no sympathy but have to report you They always put on sad face. No matter how friendly you are to them don't fall into their trap What is a typical day like for you at the company?Very lovely environment and the staff know what they are doing except few annoying staff

Depressing, demoralising and stressful.

What is the best part of working at the company?The leave entitlement of 27 days + BHs is good. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?The lack of cohesion across the organisation and poor leadership. Changing anything is a huge struggle. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Bizarre most of the time. It’s a strange combination of laissez faire and authoritarianism. It feels as if you could walk in one day and everything would be different, it’s just that you never know when it might happen. Very disconcerting.What is a typical day like for you at the company?Repetitive and relentless with no acknowledgment of my achievements - ever.

Good work-life balance with people who care about the job

Good work life balance and people genuinely care about what they do. Regular working hours on a permanent contract. Only drawback is low-ish wage compared to other companies and not much possibility for progression.

Good job. I love working for the NHS. If you care about others and are passionate about care then join the NHS. Bank work is a good start until you are certain which area you prefer / are best at.

Toxic environment

It seems like what we do most of the time is checking patient ID on samples.It’s frustrating that I went to uni to study for this job and now most of the time before you do anything you need to speak to a biochemist before you cancel a potassium of 7 when all other results are normal!? This isn’t a hard scenario. It’s so boring, there’s no challenge to the job, the machine and auto validation does most of the work, and the work that’s left for you to do you have to ask someone else’s opinion. Why did I do the degree? Why did I do the portfolio.

It’s a job at th e end of the day. Some people don’t even have that.

Staff shortage

Pharmacy it's a nice environment to work, but unfortunately the nhs is pretty stretched and it can be a lot to handle when the staffing levels are low

Lot's of employees struggling with their mental health.

Taking calls from patients, or people helping patients with various symptoms and health issues. Guiding them through the system to make sure the receive the appropriate healthcare or advise.
