Like and loathed it
Specialist administrator (Former Employee) - Portsmouth, Hampshire - 17 January 2023
Large workloads, not enough pay and expected to know everything. The people were nice and the union was a great perk of the job but the management was pretty dire.

Don't feel valued
Maintenance (Current Employee) - Taunton, Somerset - 9 January 2023
Don't feel valued. Just another body that can be replaced at anytime is the feeling I get. The holidays and pension are reasonable. Sick pay is also given. Lots of restrictions and enforced changes recently to the detriment of the workers.

Extremely difficult work and over tired. Not well paid and long hours with minimum rest. Mentally exhausting and colleagues can be brutal also. Hard exams.

Good place
Staff Nurse (Former Employee) - Dundee, Dundee City - 14 December 2022
12 hours shifts have improved work life balance. Short staffed most shifts but made up with good team work. Hopefully a deserved pay increase in the near future

Okay
Electrician (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 21 November 2022
To much management and not enough workers, sick pay and holiday is good but not enough options for training and career progression. Too many agency workers.

Dispensing Assistant (Former Employee) - Portsmouth, Hampshire - 4 November 2022
Understaffed, underpaid. Stressful. But you at least feel like a family when you are there. When you have to stay longer then you are rota'd for you do not get paid for the overtime.

Too many targets
Manager (Current Employee) - Lincolnshire - 3 September 2022
Unfortunately any area of the NHS has too many unachievable targets set, particularly by the local Health Boards. No appreciation by those at the very top of those struggling to keep everything going.
Pros
Career progression
Cons
Long long hours

No work-life balance
Medical secretary (Former Employee) - Urmston, Greater Manchester - 1 September 2022
Since this was a temporary role for six months there was only a compromise in hours, otherwise if this would’ve been a permanent role there would not have been any compromise in the hours, fixed hours. For a single parent this would not have been an ideal job. The work itself had a sense of achievement support and a friendly environment
Pros
Great support
Cons
No compromise in flex hours

Over worked under paid
Receptionist/Administrator (Current Employee) - Crawley, West Sussex - 15 August 2022
I think the money paid to receptionist and admin staff is a disgrace. And gps should do the job to understand what we are really worth it’s a very hard job with a lot of responsibility, we get verbally abused most days by patients moaning there are no appointments.
Pros
Job security
Cons
Under valued and under paid

Pharmacy Dispenser (Current Employee) - Sunderland, Tyne and Wear - 3 August 2022
This job is a secure job but very hard working, wage isnt that good specially for the work you are asked to do for your wage. There is progression should u choose.
