Flexible working hours
Health Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Colchester, Essex - 22 September 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIdeal if you have previously worked in a healthcare setting, the flexible working hours are ideal as you can within availability choose your hours. Night shifts are not compulsory but they are available if that’s your choice. Shifts can vary from 4 - 12.5 hour shifts and you are able to select which hours you prefer. You are not always guaranteed the placement you’d like as the shifts are put out where they need the extra staff, sometimes you can get moved to another ward or department. It’s a great opportunity to learn new skills as there’s many clinical settings you can work in. The NHSP support line is also helpful, the only downsides I’ve noticed is that we don’t have our own work emails, some access codes and not all of the further education opportunities as you would have being employed on a contract with in the hospital. In general it’s a nice place to work, staff on the wards are usually helpful and supportive especially when it’s your first shift there. You can cancel and change shifts if you chose to within a short notice period.

HCA/Support Worker (Current Employee) - England - 20 September 2023
Is good and flexible. Can pick up shift when you want it, no career progression as promised at the onset. Some permanent staff don’t appreciate nhsp staff.

The staff was phenomenal and better with kids than most places just for kids. Wish I got their names but the lady at check-in and the nurse or MA who took her vitals you ladies deserve a raise and recognition for your excellent attitudes and service. Much obliged.

Great company to work for, short term roles to either get experience or fill in gaps in employment, you accrue more annual leave the more you work and every post I’ve been in has been lovely

A lot of overtime available
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 11 September 2023
A lot of overtime available so you can make extra money on the sides. Can get stressful sometimes due to staff shortage but other than that it’s okay place to work

Stressful & Disappointing
Customer Service Advisor (Full-time) (Current Employee) - WFH - 7 September 2023
This job could be great because it's permanent "work from home" opportunity. It has so much potential but unfortunately it's just another call centre job. The whole NSC seems to be running with the fake narrative of toxic positivity & turning any constructive feedback into a "YOU" problem first. The problem is always "YOU". People who have been with NHSP for a while just give up & stop raising any concerns or feedback to the management. New hires come in with all the excitement because the company is selling a dream job opportunity during the interview & training phase. It then goes downhill from there. It's very hard to do your job. People call in already annoyed & take it out on you. It's shocking that some of these people are nurses or carers & even working in mental health. The way they talk to you is appalling and you better not terminate a call... There should be a way to report them especially when they are calling while on duty. Everything u say or do is monitored. Even going to the toilet, u better not have a condition or a weak bladder.... Honestly, the place is just getting worse. They are continuously hiring but it makes absolutely no difference to the call volumes & wait times for the clients. Other departments are useless. HR, Payroll & Learning & Development don't even deal with people, they just reply to emails, we can't even contact them internally... Vetting team that deals with compliance, DBS etc., has average waiting times of 90 minutes... Team Leaders are giving different advice, nothing is consistent. If u get stuck on a call after your finish time then -
Pros
working from home, knowing your days off, a little extra pay for unsociable hours, weekends & bank holidays
Cons
stressful, long hours, short breaks, horrible communication, hard to get help, no consistency, angry clients

Nurse (Current Employee) - Essex - 29 August 2023
Flexible and good money, work when you want to work, takes a while to get through to the call centre at times. Changed policy recently for 24hour notice for shift cancellation which can be hard if a child is unwell. Not bad.

Jobs at NHS Professionals
Understaffed, underpaid, stressful
Clinical Support Worker (Current Employee) - Lancaster - 24 August 2023
The job does have some rewarding aspects, when you can make a difference in people’s lives. However, the NHS isn’t able to stretch its services anymore to the people who need them; which made me unhappy as I didn’t have the power to fix it.
Pros
Rewarding making a difference to people
Cons
Long hours under staffed stressful

Promise big deliver little
Customer Service Advisor (Current Employee) - Remote - 24 August 2023
A disorganised and chaotic place to work. Unable to contact other departments, so nothing ever gets resolved for customers. Staff are pretty much punchbags for unhappy customers. Short breaks, long hours, and high stress. Avoid unless you like feeling overwhelmed and unsupported or gaslighted by the positivity brigade, who prefer to invalidate your feelings to keep the illusion alive that they're the 'best employer that cares about their people'.

Customer Service Advisor (Current Employee) - Remote - 23 August 2023
It's impossible to get hold of any other departments, bank members are left waiting months for simple resolutions to problems because of this. So many issues with this company.

Worst management I have ever experienced
Recruitment Consultant (Current Employee) - Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire - 23 August 2023
The NHS surprisingly are the last company that will ever care about your mental health. They don’t respect workers with disabilities especially. Get a job here if you want to be watched like a hawkeye 24/7 with no boundries. Nothing you say will change this as management are chosen as the favourites from the higher up. Just don’t consider it if you want to keep your own respect, as they’ll certainly make sure you don’t have any.

Great for flexibility but not great employers
Health Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Stockport, Greater Manchester - 21 August 2023
You can never get a hold of them if you need support and they block your account without saying anything to you if you have a discrepancy in your compliance I.e DBS.

Chance to work in different areas
RGN Nurse (Former Employee) - Sunderland, Tyne and Wear - 16 August 2023
Good experience and a great way to work in different specialities. However, not always supported by call centre and quite difficult to get through to them. Can be changed ward very quickly and at any point

Overworked & Unrealistic Targets/KPIs with Bad Management
Trust Recruitment Co-ordinator (Former Employee) - Stockton-on-Tees - 15 August 2023
Management is awful, some have no clue what they are doing and expect employees to reach KPIs will little support and only cares about the company's success rather than employees wellbeing and mental health. There are some mangers that do care however the majority has a huge disconnect with their employees. There is no real structure to the training either, when I was trained initially while the field trainers were supportive they only taught how to use the systems rather than teaching what was expected of us which fellow colleagues were expected to teach which for the most part was excellent to begin with but overall after you've had your systems training you're practically left to figure out the role yourself with partial support from colleagues and barely any from managers. The work is challenging and engaging and being able to work from home 90% of the time was a huge bonus, if only the workload was more manageable and management cared more about their employees and tailored their KPIs per employee then I would recommend working here but as it stand I highly recommend avoiding working here as their staff retention is at an all time low. Within the past 2yrs I've worked for NHSP in two different departments being able to work 3 different ish roles I've seen several colleagues come and go for various reasons but ultimately due to the work culture. NHSP has recently changed their core values and have recently implemented a road plan for the systems and process and how that will evolve in the future however during my 2yrs here I've seen changes but none has ever been positive -
Pros
Remote work and some colleagues are very friendly and helpful
Cons
Workload unmanageable with too many targets to reach and little support

Negative
Care Support Worker (Former Employee) - Nottingham - 14 August 2023
Staffs at QMC Hospital in Nottingham were not friendly at all. I was at this place in the year 2017. It was horrible and each day the Staffs looking for my mistakes to be reported me as an nhsp staff to the nhsp compliance department. QMC Hospital was my life worse working experience in that year. Once I'm reported for unjust complaints to the nhsp officials, and nhsp officials care not if my opponent were right or not the next thing nhsp do is they cancelled all my booked shifts and make me stay at home for 3-4 weeks without job until they found their investigation.

Amazing flexibility
Nurse Associate (agency based) (Current Employee) - Manchester - 4 August 2023
Really reputable leading agency, amazing flexibility. Always work available, holiday accrual, block bookings available. Cons: pay isn’t higher than NHS Afc, no sick pay. NHS Professionals cannot release shifts for payment and sometimes work areas are slow to do this.

Choose your schedulle
Staff Nurse (Current Employee) - Portsmouth, Hampshire - 1 August 2023
Can choose my own shifts according to my availability. Shifts can be cancelled very vlose to the shift start and most of the time with no notice. NHSP should change the system to sebd an automatic messsage and avoid going to work when not needed.
