Assistant Cook in Norwich
on 6 January 2021
Extreme workload
I was a cook, cooking for @ 40 adults, 3 meals a day and dietary changes where required. I worked 11 hour shifts. If kitchen assistant phoned in sick I had to do their job too. I had to place orders, check deliveries and put away too. Paperwork had to be filled in and signed off weekly and posted on my way home (invoices, time sheets, holiday forms, cleaning forms etc) The workload is too much for one person, no support or praise from management just criticism and negativity.

Bad company
They treat you like a serial number used up and forgotten have no care towards anyone as a human being. Payroll and HR are happy to fob you off blaming each other for wrong doings.... for a company which is county council linked they treat you very badly..... do t believe anything and I wouldn’t work for them ever again

If you are in the click then you will do well.
If your face fits and the full time clowns accept you then you will do ok.I have never worked for a company that has no interest in taking on people that really want to work and keeping ones that don't give a s#£$ about anything apart from themselves. There is a definite 'click culture' and if you don't fit then you might as well go. The management have their favourites and I went for two weeks without speaking to the one I worked for as he was always busy with the chosen one's. I tried for a number of seasons to get a full time job but didn't even get a look in despite being more qualified and experienced than the one's that did get full time roles. There are numerous other major issues with working for this shambles of a company but suffice it to say, if you need some money and only want to work for the summer on grounds maintenance then go for it. If you want a job with any kind of future then go shelf stacking somewhere. You have been warned .
