Working hours vary depending on the type of role, however these are provided on our jobs page - https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/search-and-apply-job Standard office hours are typically Monday - Thursday 8.30-5.00pm and Friday 8.30-4.30pm. NYCC staff may occasionally need to work late or at weekends (depending on role), but we also offer flexible working practices including working from other locations and from home.

We totally understand and appreciate Interviews can be daunting, but the process tends to vary depending on the role. We will always inform you via email prior to interview if there are any tests for you to complete as part of the recruitment and selection process. This would also include information around presentations that may need to be delivered. As for the interview itself, we really see this as being a two-way process. Firstly, we get to learn more about you, your motivations and interest in working for us. We then discuss your own skills, knowledge and experience in the form of competency style questions. The interview is also your chance to ask us any burning questions, which our panel are more than happy to answer for you. After all, as much as we will be assessing you to see if you are the best candidate, it is also your chance to gauge if we are the best employer for you.

We usually ask a number of competency style questions, which would vary depending on the role you have applied for. There will also be some informal questions asked around your motivations to join NYCC, what you can bring etc... You will also have the ability to ask the panel any questions towards the end of the interview. Again, much of this does depend on the role, as you can appreciate if it is quite a technical role, this would mean some rather technical related questions.

I applied for a job and had to wait over 4 weeks for the result due to ineffective senior manager (Assistant Director level) meddling in the interview processes to get their friends jobs.
