Community Nurse in Northampton, Northamptonshire

Bullying in teams
Wear, tear and petrol allowance does not cover the current day cost of using your own car. Very busy days, with high expectations. The problem lies with the management promising band 6’s to everyone, which has just lured in hungry glory hunters, who are not really interested in community nursing or working in teams. All they want to do is boss people around and sit in the office. This used to be a brilliant service, I feel sorry for the patients.

Looks good on the surface
At first glance NHFT appears to be a supportive, forward thinking NHS trust. It has a clear set of management values which it says all of it's staff live up to.However, the truth is a little different. The management values are not lived by all and they seem to be in place trip up staff who's face does not fit.The structure is confused, they are exceptionally poor at change management, their governance is either non-existent or so out of date as to be of no worth. Policies are poorly written and again, often out of date.A working environment dominated by cliques.

Does my bum look big in this?
NHFT could be a great place to work, but this is only if your face fits. If it doesn’t then be prepared to be moved along or even out.Yes the pay can be good, yes it can be rewarding working with the clients, yes you can receive good training, but if you cross the wrong people, higher management, then be prepared to be bullied, belittled and excluded!!! You must follow the ‘pack’ and keep ideas to yourself unless your manager likes you.

Fair
Lone working can be stressful new staff definitely need more support than what they do you do learn a lot of skills but as your a lone worker it is hard to get that support
