Good place to work, but progression difficult
Personal Assistant (Current Employee) - Bury - 27 February 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedNice, friendly place to work, not pressurised, but difficult to progress, as if they want the complete article rather than someone who is willing to learn.

Relaxed atmosphere, nice place to work

Jobs at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust
Great workplace
Support Secretary (Current Employee) - Salford - 15 September 2023
Rewarding and busy role! Friendly staff, supportive management and always room for progression. Flexible working available, provided with equipment to work from home. Every day is different, trust values should be taken into consideration and implemented into job role on a daily basis.

It’s the NHS
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Bury - 5 June 2023
Less and less funding, less staff, more hours . I am tired. Great staff most of the time, a family so to speak. But the thought of getting up before shift really makes a day dark
Cons
Long hours, short staffed

Areas for improvement
- Fair pay for job

No support, no preceptorship, unprofessional and understaffed
Nursing associate (Current Employee) - Salford - 15 May 2023
Avoid! Very little support. Overworked and feels unsafe often. Might be okay if not working in a clinical role. I found a lot of staff unprofessional, the way they talk about patients, not very pleasant. Wouldn't like to be a patient there!

Refreshing experience
Assistant Practitioner (Current Employee) - Salford, Greater Manchester - 9 January 2023
I am currently employed by Salford care organisation within the NHS and I am happier than I have ever been in a job. I am in a band 4 community role in children’s services. I am well supported, regularly receive well-being support and check ins, feel part of team and am given all the tools I need to excel in my role. Flexible working and leave is well managed and fair, regular opportunities for CPD. Pay definitely could be better but that’s an issue across the board of course.

Northern Care Alliance is worth working for. I enjoyed every bit of my stay there. The staff are wonderful perple.
Clinical Support Worker (Former Employee) - Manchester - 22 December 2022
At Northern Care Alliance, there is plenty of benefit which can be accessed by staff. Work-life balance is maintained as this is very important. All staff, especially the Senior staff are very hospitable. I was given a warm welcome upon joining the team. Even though I was a student at the time, I was give all the support and respect as a team member. My dream is to have the opportunity to work for Northern Care Alliance again in the future.

Avoid
Biomedical Support Worker (Former Employee) - Microbiology - 26 November 2022
Poor management. Rushed training. No appreciation. High staff turnover. Staffing levels too low for the rota which is currently in place leading to an extremely poor work-life balance.

Avoid if you can
Medical Laboratory Assistant (Former Employee) - Salford - 17 October 2022
Lab is offering in house training which is poor and rushed. You are treated as a robot and number as you are there to work and if you are not happy they will just get someone new. Senior staff unpleasant, lacking emotional vigillance and difficult to work with. No room for progression. Would not recommend to work here.

Decent pay, rewarding work and good colleges
Medical Laboratory Assistant (Current Employee) - Oldham, Greater Manchester - 4 October 2022
The work is great, with plenty of variation which keeps the monotony at bay. Most of the staff get along well. There's usually a good amount of breaks throught the day.
Pros
Breaks, pay is OK, rewarding work
Cons
Very stressful when things go wrong ( often), this is the NHS so no free brews or food

Average workplace
Staff Nurse (Former Employee) - Rochdale, Greater Manchester - 16 September 2022
Not a bad place to work. However many issues working for the NHS as a whole. Often moved to other wards and areas by managers due to staffing issues. Concerns not heard when uncomfortable about the area you were being sent to.
Pros
Good team
Cons
Lack of support from higher management

Great place to work
Clinical Support Worker (Former Employee) - Manchester - 22 July 2022
Great place to work, hard work and fast paced but rewarding. Lots of different departments so there is chance to change which one you're working in via applying internally when a job comes up

Nice people but poor management
Medical Laboratory Assistant (Current Employee) - the royal oldham hospital - 21 July 2022
Its okay. Wouldn't want to work here long term but I worked part-time whilst in Uni so treated it as a saturday job. There is little room for progression and interviews for higher positions are handed out randomly and are completely biased. It is a nice place to work and the people are lovely, it is easy to pick up overtime.

ok
Trainee Nursing Associate (Current Employee) - Salford - 30 June 2022
very stressful environment to work in as it is very understaffed everywhere. Shift patterns are very good and can have a lot of time off in one go. but when you are actually there it is very stressful and you feel under appreciated.
Pros
days off
Cons
long hours

Was wonderful, now too many chiefs and not enough staff.
Staff Nurse Band 5 (Current Employee) - Salford - 3 April 2022
I have worked here since I qualified in 2018. It was an excellent preceptorship as a new nurse and pre covid was a great place to work. Since covid and beyond it has changed. There are so few staff now that you do have to take on more and more patients past the recommended patient to nurse ratio, many of the lead nurses only care about beds and will not step in to help you and it is clear that you, as a nurse are not important. I have experienced not a great deal of support from management, and feel I need to look elsewhere for a job. This is a shame because it is an excellent hospital and was once an amazing place to work and I loved it. But too many chiefs have made it almost unbearable at times, and I have felt continuous anxiety about each shift. If they were able to recruit and retain a lot more staff and deal with the poor top level management I'm sure it would go back to being a wonderful workplace.

Worst place i have ever worked in the NHS
Medical Secretary (Former Employee) - Salford - 11 April 2021
Management awful. Couldnt organise anything if they tried. They lie. They have favourites. They sit on things for days then blame their staff. They are not supportive and there is no training for staff when you start, they dont know what they're doing so obviously how are they supposed to teach you?!!
Pros
Pay ok and leave ok
Cons
Management dont support or manage in any way, shape or form.
