The job as busy and honestly wasn't the staff to keep up. Often felt very snowed under and truly unhappy. My direct manager was fantastic but sadly the overall management was poor. No care for the wellbeing of the staff, especially when the team moved remotely to work. A lot of unnecessary pressure was put on you and caused a very stressful atmosphere to work in. There were some perks with the job, the salary was good and you got discounts in loads of different stores, however, the negative outweighed the positives.
Pros
Discounts, Themed Days & Amazing Xmas Party
Cons
Stressful, bad management

Hectic crazy job, which has you working way over your weekly average hours, and overtime isn’t paid for, you have to work bank holidays even if it’s 4 days you work extra hours without pay. No management support, and constantly nit pick at you for anything you do
Pros
Money
Cons
Long hours, management

Great job, for keeping fit, lots of lifting and manual work, travelling to some nice parts while out and about, employment here is through employment agency. Some long hours worked sometimes though, 14 hour days sometimes.
Pros
Good for keeping fit as manual labour involved, visit some nice locations while out and about delivering.
Cons
Long hours, some of the transport managers had no respect for the drivers whatsoever

I was the Christmas temp. They guys treated me very well and were very chilled and down to earth. I’m worked there for about 4 years (during Christmas period) and I’ve met some amazing people. Would definitely recommend working there for the sessional temp position.
Pros
Free lunch, relaxed, interesting bunch to talk to
Cons
Didn’t have any cons

Since the buyout in June it was supposed to be more relaxed and no targets. Heavily pushed “non-existent” targets and encouraging selling of finance and insurance products. Management under heavy pressure from above and “unspoken” encouragement to push said products. Ambiguity in fully explaining them to customer’s not telling them everything just snippets. Unwilling to back staff when things caught up with the store and appeared to be slow to discourage unruly staff. Could be so much better very sad really.
Pros
Some good people work there
Cons
High staff turnover and longtime to pay commission

It is a fair place to work it is competitive and you have targets to meet but when you meet the target to pay is very good. You have to work most weekends and there are early and late shifts.
Pros
Work independently
Cons
Long hours and weekends

I thoroughly enjoyed working within oak furniture land, I was disappointed not to be still with the business, unfortunately with changes to the number of store they have meant my short time with the company came to an end prematurely. Pity really would have loved to have continued. Maybe we’ll meet again.
Pros
Great total income potential

Managers have a I don’t care attitude towards any staff, your just treated as a number and communication skills are next to none. Lucky if you get an hello on a morning. There is definitely if your face fits culture in place. Any complaints are shrugged off by the managers and you will be given the worst delivery rotes or not had back in from agency. Money is not on par with the workload given. Expected to carry 100KG furniture up multiple flights stairs. Given dangerous trucks and old outdated satnavs to use. Very high turnover of agency staff as all full time staff are slowly leaving due to poor pay and management. staff I’ve worked with have all said the same when asking. They are only there because it’s a job in today’s economy. not because they like it there.
Pros
Some of the other drivers are a laugh.
Cons
Pay, management, high agency turn over

If you don’t mind staying behind after 8pm midweek & 5 pm on a Sunday to do a 300+price ticket change twice a month, then this us for you, you can’t book a days holiday, you have to book a week off, which isn’t fair. Don’t pay sick pay, targets are high. If you don’t hit your target you don’t get paid commission.
Pros
Good commission if you hit your targets
Cons
Hard targets to achieve

Avoid at all costs ! It’s a cancer environment with the expectations to lift dangerous weights with no time given for shocking pay, avoid at all cost as the company is built on lies and greed, The O licence holder has no knowledge on drivers hours or work time directive and will justify they can’t afford drink and drug test’s when they are aware of drivers under the influence driving, and with the current COVID 19 pandemic they can’t afford PPE but still expect everything to be placed into house when you could be going into 14-20 house a day.The company is badly ran across the country and the personal remarks and bullying I’ve experienced is the worse I’ve experienced in my whole working career please think twice before joining these cowboys, poor pay for no reward, no sick pay for work place injury’s and if you stand up for yourself they will try every trick in the book to push you out the door.

I worked at the customer service head office in Swindon. And it was awful. The managers didn't really give help when needed, and you are pushed onto the phones without even being asked if you feel like you have had enough training, etc. Management gave no help when needed, almost like they didn't really know what they were doing. Started working from home during lockdown, and even less support was given, even when I spoke to a manager about how difficult is was becoming, all I was given was a phone number of counselling to ring...and after that the manager never checked I was okay. Left the company, as was affecting mental health massively. Felt automatically happier once I had left. Don't work here, if you want to stay happy!
Pros
Nothing..
Cons
Bad managers, no support given.

Dont ever work here you will just a slave forcing you to lift 100kg plus boxes on your own in a set time and if you cant because of either strength or injury caused by working here they will find a way to get rid of you
Pros
Nothing at all
Cons
Get told to work or lose your job even if you can't do what they are asking of you

Area Manager makes poor decisions in recruiting people who clearly are the wrong fit for the role. The Team are then left to deal with all the issues this causes further down the road. As in bad behaviours, dishonesty and lack of experience etc. Area Manager turns a blind eye once he’s sat a bottom on a seat for the role ! Honestly it’s stomach churning. Embarrassed to work here.
Pros
None
Cons
Area managers lack of intelligence, In dealing with staff can only be seen to sabotage the region, He wasn’t particularly interested in covering

Contracted for 8 hour days, but expected to work until whenever for no further reward. 55 hour weeks are normal. They refuse to pay sick pay, even for work place injuries. 2 man lifting teams for everything from a 20kg bedside cabinet to a 160kg wardrobe.Vehicles overloaded and badly loaded daily; management get around the weight limits by printing false weights on the paperwork. For example, the Hercules table top used to weigh 140kg but dropped to 100kg o/n. 2 man team will carry up to 2.5 tonnes each day, but not all teams will be treated equally. The same staff will scream, "I int f'in doing that" if there's anything that involves effort, and the morning Tot Manager will shift that job onto another, unsuspecting team. Anything to ensure that he has an easy life.Badly loaded vehicles will be justified by the O Licence holder because the warehouse/loading staff are on minimum wage, so it's not their fault. Vehicle tail lifts either don't work or are locked, meaning that all of the loads have to be handballed onto or off the vehicle, (Remember the 160kg wardrobe)!
Pros
60p per day for bad instant coffee whilst in the yard.
Cons
Toxic management encouraging a culture of unconcious bias.
