Good lads to work with

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Worked with some good lads willing to put the graft in to get the work done. Constant battle between days and nights. Management always siding with days and giving them rewards whilst night staff forgot about. Night managers constantly replaced as expected to attend meeting during the day after and before shifts. If it wasn't for working with good people you wouldn't go to work.

Pros

Bonuses every month. Good pay stock check

Cons

Lots

Hard graft but a good laugh and decent money

The warehouse side is hard work very fast paced with heavy lifting included, however the pay is fairly decent to compensate the only downside really is working 6 days a week well 5.5 according to the manager. The warehouse lads have a good craic with each other never have a day without a laugh.

Productive busy workplace

Brilliant place to work if you enjoy being busy , The lads you work with are great management are always on hand if you need anything and very helpful. The shifts are good we work 4 on 4 off and having those 4 days off each week is good i get to spend lots of time with the family so in that respect its great.Overall Oak tyres is a good workplace , it can be hard work but the time goes quick and before you know it its home time.

Pros

Time off, Friendly workplace

Cons

12 hour shift

Hard work but minimum rewards and you will have no say unless you work in head office.

Have no idea on how to improve the sites efficiency, tried throughout my time there to improve the conditions so the heavy workload was more manageable, but unless the idea comes from the head office, you will be ignored. While I worked there, they changed the shift patterns to rotating shifts so that the shift allowance would cover the increase in national min wage, rather than just increasing the pay (cost them less this way). Could be great if the warehouses were running themselves rather than being badly ran by head office.

Pros

Warehouse ops are a good group and friendly.

Cons

long hours, rotating shifts, will not listen to the warehouse team, heavy workload

A fair place but could be better

Firstly working as a driver at oak tyres can be great some days but most days you are working long hours, fill in overtime sheets to gain time in leau but, have to eat and drink on the go due to timescales and have dinner deducted regardless, get loaded late to then be hounded for eta for customers, there is support there for staff but very minimal, as with any company you are just a number and are easily replaced so it makes no odds to them, good when you can get a decent delivery route and build a rapour with customers that will give you the time for a bit of interaction

Pros

Decent overall salary

Cons

Long hours, overtime paid as built up holiday time, can’t plan any sort of home life away from work

Fast paced and stressful

Operational staff needs an overhaul, they heavily invest in keeping customers engaged in the tyre brands. Used to look after staff with nights out but that money must be distributed elsewhere.

Pros

Lads are a laugh

Cons

Stressful

Stressed workplace

Management are bullies haven't got a clue what they're doing from day to day no interest in people's wellbeing, as long as tyres go out the door that's all that matters

Not the best place to work for

The place is run very poor (warehouse) the high management are professional shame warehouse is run by idiots who have no idea how to even run a bath let alone a busy warehouse. There is no appreciation for all of your hard work and time that you put in from either management or supervisors, if your not part of the click or bum football then just dont even bother. I have recently seen new vans on the road but before these they looked like they were fit for the scrap yard. As a driver you are expected to help to load each others vans then when you manage to get loaded yourself which is always late you are expected to complete your round and be back at the depot in time for your second run even if you like up to 30 delivery's at a time. As for wages they wont alow overtime instead will give you a day off in lieu IF POSSIBLE, there is a bonus scheme to top your money up however they will take it from you for the slightest reason. At the start of your employment you are promised the world, my advice is to RUN....

No breaks at all. Operations manager is inexperienced. Your a driver, warehouse opp ,cleaner ,litter picker ,toilet cleaner. Forced to stay in to tip containers. Only drivers do them. Manager and supervisors are lazy. Run planner is registered blind. Work every sat. Struggle getting holidays. List goes on and on. Runs always go out late.

Fast paced expanding business

If you are willing to work hard, don't moan and do an honest days work then Oak is a great place, no space for individuals that want everything given without hard work. Well respected and rewarded by the owner, regular praise & thanks given to all employees. Only left due to family issues

Not for Me

This company was not what I expected so I did not stay long. The people I worked with were great, but the days were very long. It also had a really old system.

Very monotonous lots of negative feedback

Poor management structure with poor people skills. Very much call centre mentality. Answer inbound calls. Take orders. I havent learned anything from Oak from a sales perspective Regional manager will come into the office and not speak. Sales office manager is very inexperienced and lack people skills. All calls are recorded and if script is not followed, regardless of the outcome of the call, you will be sent a training script to sign.

Pros

Closed Christmas day
