Just pure frustration
I worked in the back operating the dishwasher. The job itself was okay, but the rest of the staff made you feel like a piece of dirt on the bottom of their shoe. You'd have chefs walk in and slam down their dirty pans, you'd have waiting staff coming in and shouting really loud for no reason and, even with a handful of crockery, still slamming things about. At times I even had wet surfaces and my manager would come in and jump up on them and pole dance in the middle of potwash! I appreciate having a bit of a laugh and a joke at work, but this was incredibly unprofressional and incredibly unsafe. Not only that, but you'd be on the rota to finish your shift at completely unrealistic times. My rota would say to finish at 11pm, but dinner service didn't finish until 10:30 and you'd still have lots of customers still to clear up after and all the pots and pans from the kitchen to do, so you were more likely to finish at midnight than anything. Other members of staff due to finish at the same time as me would leave me with the last few jobs whilst they went home and leave me to be the last one to leave. Sure, they'd pay you for the extra time you did, but it was honestly a joke. Maybe not all the places within Oakman Group are like this, but the place I worked, I wouldn't recommend to anyone.Head Chef in Multible

Terrible culture, no time to yourself
On days off be prepared to answer phone calls, emails, and constant WhatsApp messages, They don't employ enough component people and so need to ask questions constantly, In the first 6 months I built up 3 weeks of overtime which I was refused to take in lieu or be paid for, The head office spend there time telling you to employ more staff, then at the same time to cut hours, I wouldn't recommend joining this company until they have a major shift away from there toxic cultureManagement in Hertfordshire

Company is great, the employees not so much
Oakmans is a great company I like their vision and what they want to achieve. The staff benefit’s are good, service awards, discounts, oakfest. Management at my site is shocking. Mostly the GM. Staff are ok but is a bit like working in a nursery. HR, buildings etc are all great.Waitress in Midlands

Great job
I have worked for the company for years, they have very good employee benefits and I have met some amazing people working here. They are as flexible as they can be with working around your personal commitments What would you say about your employer?
