Ok for short term

Indeed featured review

Some managers are good. Some a pain in the neck with no people skills. Good enough for a stop gap but that’s about it. Theres an extremely high turnover as most people leave for less demanding jobs that pay better.

It was complicated sometimes

Shift patterns were flexible but the job can be difficult. What you would learn? Working under pressure, when things get busy you are expected to work at a certain rate. Work place culture? It’s a friendly environment managers are willing to listen to you. But getting requests in can take a long time.

It was ok, but shift times are awful

The job is not bad overall. The pay is decent and you can earn a good bonus if you perform well. However, the shift times are not ideal. You may have to work nights, weekends, or holidays. This can be a challenge if you have a family or other commitments.

Just a number, easily replaced, poor retention as a result

What is the best part of working at the company?Awful place to work - totally disposable , high turnover of staff. Minimal pay yet bosses pay themselves millions even when the company makes a half billion pound loss. ComicalWhat is the most stressful part about working at the company?Always looking over your shoulder as there is always someone looking to stab you in the backWhat is the work environment and culture like at the company?Overworked, poor IT support, and blame cultureWhat is a typical day like for you at the company?Same old same old - nothing changes , management too busy watching their own backs to be concerned with lower levels

Fun place to work

Great company to work for and everyone is a laugh and helpful, good hours and good pay, managers are there to help all the time, when I was there it was 4 days 10 hour shifts which is perfect for a work life balance

Easy Lifestyle If You Can Live With The Shifts

The job could not be any easier really. Just turn up - van loaded - directions given - take your time - get back early most days. Most staff behind the desk are good and helpful people.

Good

Good benifits pay good can be hard work when delivering to flats. Pre set routes and loaded vans. Can be very high mileage. Job and lot so can finish early and get paid to end of shift.

Fast paced work however fun and rewarding for the right people!

I really enjoyed my time at Ocado. Typical day would consist of clocking in around 5:30AM, checking the board to see when your van is loaded (yes you don’t need to load yourself), going out in the yard and inspecting damage to the van and making sure fridges are fully functional. I would then check the overview of my route to see what areas I was covering. From the Sheffield depot you are likely to be covering a lot of the Doncaster, Chesterfield and Matlock area. Deliver to customers in an efficient manner following a pre planned route, (if you saw a slightly better route or you wanted to complete deliveries out of the ordinary order this is possible you just needed to call the customer to confirm it’s okay). Typical day consisted of around 26-30 drops. *You really need to be fit for this role. It does require heavy lifting and at times you may need to walk up multiple flights of stairs with really heavy totes* After completing deliveries head back to the depot and get the van inspected by Marshall’s for any damage. *This is one of the cons of the job as in my opinion, many Marshall’s were lazy and took a while to even begin starting to check off your van. Sometimes they would see your there and start doing other things delaying the process of checking in* Once your route is done simply clock out and go home. I myself would usually always finish around an hour earlier than my shift end time and yes you are paid for this. Hope this help.

Pros

Free coffee machine, Rewarding work, great management team (friendly), fun job on the road driving, mostly nice customers (tips), easy system for delivering

Cons

Very tiring, heavy drops, occasional rude customers if you are running slightly late.

Family feeling

You really feellike you are working with your family, its fast paced as you are required to hit targets. Its very clean and friendly management kind of have a clue and they are very helpful, with the sifts you are easily able to make appointments and have plenty of family time. In the canteen the food is really good very cheap and is ran by really friendly staff. There is an onsite staff shop thats fairly cheap.

Pros

Cheap food, friendly people, great set shifts

Cons

Never any spaces for holidays, having to be moved around from zones

Good Company

Professional and Competent company . The workload is not hard and the hours are not overlong. The money is fair for the job given to you. It can be repetitive, but most workers appreciate that.

Don’t work here

The first few weeks/month you get made to feel like part of a family and everyone is so friendly, i started working 30 hours instead of 20 and started to see the real side of most coordinators and managers. I got treated unfairly for my mental health and always felt so unhappy there. The breaks are ridiculous and they expect you to be better than humanly possible. All higher ups are childish and clueless, even after stating multiple times of my mental and physical illnesses they never got put it on the system. Pickers always get blamed for everything that happens when customers get their food. They let me work in dispatch even though they said I couldn’t due to my heart condition. The only pro about this place was the mental health champion and one manager who had supported me countless times. We’re always made to feel lower and less important than the managers. Overall drains your mental and physical health. Pay is bare minimum for a really stressful and debilitating job. You can tell there’s some sort of tension between people of different diversity as well.

Pros

Mental health champion, an odd kind manager.

Cons

Long hours, ridiculous breaks, unskilled management, not understanding.

Stay away

Do not join this company for your own well being, Ocado you are a joke, and not sure where you get the management team in transport. They will not back up a driver even if you are right. Very poor pay for what you do and dealing with customers. They have a revolving door as the amount of drivers don’t last and the amount of drivers they take on weekly, how about you look after the drivers you have. Plus don’t get me started on the marshals as they are a jobs worth.

Pros

There isn’t any

Cons

Too many

Dynamic fast paced work and employer

Had a great time working here and developed a lot whilst being employed there. Unfortunately left for personal reasons but still have fond memories of working here.

Poor

Poor managerial skills. Poor communication. The managers really don't know how to communicate properly. They talk so much about being there for your well-being, health and safety etc however their behaviours truly contradict that. When you apply you are asked about any medical problems. You name them if you do and when you have appointments that you cannot manage around your roster somehow you miss them because of their sloppy managing. I have missed 2 of mine for the same appointment. There is a high lack of compassion. The staff are nice and friendly but it's the managerial level which disappoints extremely. They really don't treat new staff well, hence why there is such an high turnover.

Pros

Benefits

Cons

Management

Poor

You are expected to work like a machine constantly with unrealistic targets. More favourable and easier roles are taken by the older employees. Stay away.

I wouldn't recommend

I am looking for new job, no job opportunities unless you are friends with the right people not based on qualifications or skills, just who knows who.I upset this employer as l requested flexible working after that l have been bullied and job opportunities taken away.A company based on corporate spin, always self promotion of how they are inclusive, caring and friendly but a dark story behind the scenes.Staff are not valued, pay, promotion, working environment.Best avoid, plenty of minimum wage jobs to consider elsewhere.

Pros

It's a job

Cons

Staff not valued

Good pay

Good pay for the work required. Easy job if you know how to drive van. Heavy items up stairs so can be physically tiring. Not a very friendly working environment

Thank you for taking the time to review us, we're happy to see that overall you enjoyed your time with us. We appreciate that the role of CSTM can be quite physically demanding, so we're grateful to you for your hard work whilst with us. Wishing you all the best with the future

Run away

Run away from this company. The managers and coordinators will only care about their favourite/friends/people from same countries as them. Im working there do i know. The others they will make sure u hate ur job. I dont see any positive point about this company
