Good work for interpreters
Face to Face Interpreter (Current Employee) - Kent, UK - 15 April 2021
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by Indeeda good linguists agency to work for. Assignments are booked beforehand and you know where you will go and for how long. You always get paid on time. Both clients and service providers are nice people. I would recommend ONCALL Interpreters & Translators also to other interpreters and translators.
Pros
working environment, atmosphere
Cons
no specific cons

Low pay rates
Interpreter (Former Employee) - Bury, Greater Manchester - 24 August 2023
As an interpreter you need to have both Medical and PS qualifications to be able to answer random phone calls from police, social services and NHS. The pay rate is ridiculously low and they don’t offer uplift for nights hours, holidays and weekends. You will be receiving phone call at any day or time even if you disabled your availability. Don’t waste your time.

Enjoy my work
Interpreter and Translator (Current Employee) - London - 29 November 2021
I had to go to hospitals, people’s homes and social services. It was easy as long as you knew your location . The people I have come across have been good and working with co workers on the jobs has been brilliant.

Horrible place to work at
Project Manager (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 16 November 2020
. Everything about working at ONCALL was horrific, from the incredibly low salary to the management who does not know your name and has no knowledge about the kind of work is carried out. Employees are often asked to carry out tasks that are outside of their job description ( translation PMs asked to translate) as everything is about saving money. Management is abusive, ignorant and has no care for the well-being of their employees. There is NO opportunity to have career progression, people are moved to different teams just to fill in the gaps even if they have no experience or knowledge of tasks that are given to them. Holidays are cumulative so it can be very hard to have enough days to take a long holiday, employees are often asked to work bank holidays even if it's not specified in the contract. There are no benefits, they do not pay maternity leave and often refuse to accept annual leave requests. I can confidently say ONCALL's management is horrific and will surely be the worst company I've ever worked for. Do yourself a favour and don't work here.

Bad management
Booking Coordinator & Recruitment Officer (Former Employee) - London - 23 November 2017
The public service department is bad organized, bad managed and there is no possibility of advancement. Employers and interpreters are underpaid and not treated well.
