Working at One Stop is always interesting, you never know what your day will have in store for you. Often you make friends with the people you work with, and most are satisfied with their days at work.

Worked for the one stop for 4 months. My first pay check I did overtime and did not get paid for it. Emailed the pay check email address and the manager said ‘don’t message payroll, I’ll sort it’ 4 months later i get paid it from my holiday hours. Which I didn’t take a holiday, I lost my holiday hours from working overtime. I would get moaned at for not knowing something you’ve never been showed before, you would get shouted out in front of other colleagues, would always get a bad comment every shift, constantly worked 2-10 shifts as well. Had no security at night as the door alarm and behind the till door lock did not work so had 0 security at night (with just one on the shop floor) apart from this 90% of the staff we’re great and very helpful and could not thank them enough
Pros
10% of tescos
Cons
Awful work hours, poor management

Lazy management, never want to listen, never solve any issues, constantly new colleagues that leave within a month because of stress, too many grasses that are friendly with management, relationships within company (isn't allowed), constantly being investigated for minor things, terrible company to work for!!! Dont make the mistake of working for them like I have

Money
Cons

Management have their favourites and promote colleagues who have less relevant experience than you. Expect to work one on one consistently in stores with no protection at all. Shift managers only get 40p approx more than a CSA. Compared to Tesco, they do the same job but get more. It is a very stressful job and demoralising at best. Don't expect to just do your contractual hours. If you need to get hold of someone at head office or help desk or store/area manager, you are out of luck there. Look elsewhere before considering here first.
Pros
Hours and overtime were constantly avaliable
Cons
Poor pay, long hours, favouritism amongst managers and toxic work culture in some respect

Hard work especially when staff don’t work as a team, very frustrating you feel like your picking up other people’s jobs they haven’t done properly all the time and management do nothing to sort it.
Cons
Short break and standing whole shift

If you’re starting out, they won’t tell you all the rules/policies/standards and then management will belittle you for not knowing g immediately. Expect to be on the shop floor alone for most of your shift, as shift managers/store managers will sit in the office the entire time and pile you with work. If you break a policy even if you can justify yourself, expect to be made to feel deeply about embarrassed. And despite managers saying they that conversations are ‘confidential’, they are guaranteed to gossip about you to all the other staff. Only thing I can say I enjoy is talking to the customers, but you get 0 protection from harassment/stalking from customers outside of and in work. If you’re ill no one will believe you and will gossip. If you’re ill enough for them to believe you (i.e on deaths doorstep) your manager will be solely focused on planning if they need to replace you.
Pros
Nice to be in community
Cons
Staff, management, policies, stressful

Absolutely awful place to work, had to leave because mental health was all time low. Management dont care, company dont care, no security, left alone on shop floor and expected to serve and stock at the same time. Only ever told when youve done something wrong, never right. Only get a 10% discount and low wage so really not worth the stress. 20 minute break for 8 hour shifts. you will always work double, if not more, your contracted hours

The job is ok but if the owner doesn't like you for some reason he'll make you feel unappreciated and no matter how hard you work he will treat you unfairly. He picks his favourite staff members, and they're treated very well. This is at franchise stores.
Cons
Open 6am till 11pm.

Long hours with no appreciation for doing extra hours or how hard you do work. Lack of store management skills. Only care about having someone to do the shift. Lack of training when promoted. When in need of store manager when not in the business won’t answer phone calls.

Senior management expect some stores to work one on one most days whilst other stores who don’t make take much more get loads of hours and regularly have 3-4 people per shift. Whilst I enjoyed my role I found the stores to be very unorganised and chaotic. Some store managers will rota you in for overtime without asking before hand and when you refuse because you have plans you are questioned to why you need the day off and if it’s really necessary. But will not question why other managers are not doing overtime. The pay for what is expected is awful and the benefits do not match the work expected. The area manager would come in and destroy the store manager, reducing them to tears but not proving any practical support. All of this being said if you are looking for something to get experience in retail then look no further, this company will give you the foundation in management but no more.
Pros
Paid breaks
Cons
Pay, benefits, management, hours and unrealistic expectations

The most enjoyable part of the job is working with people. The hardest part of the job is the quite shifts.I learned a lot about interacting with people and how making small mistakes isn't the end of the world. I have always taken responsibility for the mistakes that I made, which has worked in my favour.

Employee Discount, Odd shifts

Basically if you'd like to be treated like something they stepped in then this is the place for you. They're vile and selfish. They don't care about you as a person. They're happy for you to help them and be at their beckoned call but will constantly treat you like you don't matter. They will break you down and make you cry. dont do it. Dont put yourself through it.
