very busy

big workload and always busy. you work alone most of the time and the managers try to pressure you into working overtime. You have to work a mandatory amount of Saturdays throughout the year and if the workload gets too heavy then you have to work compulsory overtime.

very good , comprehensive range of duties indoor and outdoor. Able to use one`s own skills and judgements.

Worked there for 40 years ,so it can`t be that bad! started as apprentice back in 1973 and eventually worked as major works construction jointer before crossing over to underground cable maintainence. This then integrated into faulting / customer installation before progressing to Customer Service Coach.All in all I can say that I had 40 good years there.

decent salary, good pension, ability to work alone and make decisions on the job

NO work life balance

BT Openreach are like every other large company, they want more and more productivity out of you every day and the days are just not long enough. The salary is at best a poor one, they have learned very little over the years about how to treat staff, it's all lip service.

you get out and about & the work is intresting & varied

less & less time to complete a job satis factoraly & safely
