Mismanagement
Production Operative (Former Employee) - Leek - 13 May 2022
Management have no clue at all lines are suppose to be run by operators standards but are ignored when you raise it they don't comment or try to pass it off. pay is bad that its not worth even going in for. Location is awful in the middle of a town that no.one in stoke really would travel for and if your face fits (favourites) you get places. Workers treated like dog body's they say they value their SOP and health and safety but don't put it in practice. no training to understand the role. They only good thing is getting out of there I've never known a place so mis managed in all my life its run like a joke house not a production site they even treat their zone leaders like muck off your shoe when it's them on the front line and know how everything works.
Pros
Two half hour breaks, two days off
Cons
Pay, mangerment

Hard work and stressful
Machine Operator (Current Employee) - Leek, Staffordshire - 3 May 2022
Not a good place to work , you can progress to running a machine in a few months around £ 11.70 ph . It’s a place where if you are related to the management you will rise very quickly, and bypass those hard workers who have been there for years , over the last 12 months they have been struggling to keep people as the pay as not keep up with over firms , most left for jcb . If you are a hard worker they will take advantage of you , management don’t have a glue what they are doing half the time and you will get moved from one place to another.

Fun
Assistant Manager (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 6 April 2022
Good team members around you make this a fun and enjoyable place to work. A fast-paced atmosphere at times mean that the job can be demanding. Always good team work to help each other out where needed.

A range of different jobs available, and the canteen supplies great food.
Production Operative. (Former Employee) - Stoke-on-Trent - 6 January 2022
The day went really quickly, and there's a wide variety of different job roles available. I got on with everyone there really well, the people who I worked with were great. I enjoyed my time working at Ornua.
Pros
Good food, easy to learn new jobs there and fast paced so the time goes really quickly.
Cons
The pay was the same for all the different jobs, wasn't much chance of advancement.

Stressful experience with little support from management.
QA (Former Employee) - Ledbury, Herefordshire - 24 December 2021
The manager who might have been supportive was on maternity leave. I accept i was not right for the job as i wasn't up to carrying out 2 dozen tasks at once or making managerial decisions, nor could i overcome the language barrier nor could i actually do my job around 50% of the time as the limited workspace available would be taken up by staff from another area. Several staff members treated me as though i was just something dropped on the floor, however others were lovely, including the lady who had a very limited time to try to train me up, and the young lady i worked with. You need to have complete and utter confidence in yourself as you may have no-one higher up to support you.
Pros
The end of the working day.
Cons
The beginning of the working day.

Jobs at Ornua
Ambitious business with a genuine focus on people
Head of Supply Chain, Europe (Current Employee) - UK - 2 July 2021
We are encouraged to recognise opportunities to drive value and then empowered to act on them and drive them through with the support of our peers and management team. My workload is mine to manage and prioritise accordingly, and whilst the prioritisation can be challenged any push back is respectful and needs based. Succession planning, diversity & inclusion are a real focus of the business. The sites consistently deliver on excellent Food Safety and Health and Safety.
Pros
Empowered to manage my own work load. Freedom to determine where I can drive most value and benefit.
Cons
Work load can be challenging, but offset by a positive culture and a desire to support each other.

Collaborative and people orientated
Manager (Current Employee) - Nantwich, Cheshire - 30 June 2021
I have worked at Ornua since 2017 and have found the support in my role and the opportunities to progress within the business the best experience in the 25 years I have worked in food manufacturing. There is a genuine desire and passion to always seek to be better and whilst there will always be challenges the focus is investment in people to grow a collaborative and inclusive workforce.
Pros
Fantastic benefits for those interested, great succession planning for development opportunities for talented individuals, Graduate programs, training and courses to grow skill sets
Cons
no major cons to be honest the workload can sometimes be a little overbearing but not a concern

Great company to work for
HR (Current Employee) - Global - 30 June 2021
The company have a genuine desire to treat people well and are trying very hard to create a positive culture in engagement, diversity and equality and communication. There is still an expectation for long hours but more flexibility is coming in. They have handled Covid very well and I have felt very safe with all the protocols.
Pros
Engagement and staff activities
Cons
Early starts and lots of meetings

Understaffed and over worked
Zone Controller (Former Employee) - Foods - 26 January 2021
Current management clueless shop floor over stretched and under manned manning levels not sufficient to meet bosses target that work on paper, another example of poor senior management , and then we just told to get on with it, then they wonder why people leave staff turnover a major problem with little or no training. Safety manager hides away not interested
Pros
Free coffee
Cons

Crippling to mind and body.
Production Operative (Former Employee) - Leek, Staffordshire - 30 October 2020
I remember my first day, waiting for someone to say ‘only kidding!’ Surely this wasn’t real. There were so many things that were just so wrong. Apart from the fact that using the loo if not on break is frowned upon, and cameras/managers/staff watching your every move (just like a goldfish bowl), the mind-numbing work is amplified by the constant drone of the machines. There were bad backs aplenty also. By my third week it was hard to distinguish between me the human and the machine. A truly awful experience.
Pros
Weekend off
Cons
The destruction of grey matter.

Awful
Supervisor (Former Employee) - Ledbury, Herefordshire - 28 August 2020
Awful place to work, management team live in there own little bubble and do not think much of the (peasants) below them. No training, short staffed and language barrier everywhere you turn. Mainly agency staff to work with changes each and every day. Was forced out by management after a total of 10 years service, after illegally dropping wages. Horrible management and business.

None
Cons

Hated it.
Production Operative (Former Employee) - Leek, Staffordshire - 8 July 2020
Ornua is a busy place. As such work/ life balance is poor. Management at shop floor level is inconsistent, favouritism is rife. People who don't want overtime are frowned upon

Zero nothing is good there. The management use the people as slaves
Production Operative (Former Employee) - Leek, Staffordshire - 25 January 2020
Horrible place. Everybody is a slave and rasist!!! Not recommend working there at all. They always recruit people. Everybody was watching me like an alien there
