We help people build better lives for themselves. We speak out on the big issues that keep people poor, like inequality and discrimination against women.

And we won’t stop until every person on the planet can live without poverty.

We are one of 20 Oxfam affiliates working together in more than 90 countries. From practical work supporting communities’ efforts to help themselves, through to influencing world policy, we support people to empower themselves and achieve a brighter future.

Oxfam NZ works to combat injustice and poverty primarily in the Pacific Islands and Southeast Asia. We work to support the economic empowerment of women and girls, eliminate period poverty, and enable universal access to clean, safe water.

recommend for volunteer experience
typically pricing donations, sorting through books, DVDs, toys etc. opportunities to work on the till as well. the store is well organised and it can be fun, with a diverse group of volunteers. may cover travel expenses depending on your hours. it was a great experience to meet new people and develop new skills, easy to get the hang of, however the store can get quite quiet some days.

Hard work with no breaks & horrible manageress
Work was ok and varied. I was a back room sorter. Nasty Manageress, horrible to unpaid volunteers, who are not treated with respect, lack of support, very hard work and no breaks. Would not recommend.

Loved it!
For anyone thinking of volunteering, go for it! I loved the staff and all the volunteers, enjoyed sorting donations and helping customers. Even doing window displays! Only stopped due to work restrictions but hope to go back!

Fun but crowded
I really enjoyed working here and interacting with customers. However the staff couldn't keep up with the amount of donations flowing in, so the backroom was always completely full and pretty disorganized, which made trying to find and sort through items very stressful.
