Thorough Training
Live-in Caregiver (Current Employee) - Banbury, Oxfordshire - 7 June 2023
The training at Oxford Aunts is very thorough , with the Teachers /Assessors being very approachable and observant of trainees needs and areas they may need more time to have things explained to them . It's taught in a way that makes it fun and interactive while still emphasising the seriousness of being a care giver and the need to be professional and follow ways of working guidlines and policies and procedures empowering trainees with the tools and knowledge to give the best care they possibly can to their Clients . I'm about to start my first Placement with Oxford Aunts so am unable to review anything apart from the training as of yet . I will review again in 3 months time . So far its been an amazing experience .
Pros
Approachable, Respectful, Helpful, Patient, Encouraging, Empowering, in-depth.
Cons
None as of yet .

Jobs at Oxford Aunts Care
Not enough placements
Full time live in carer (Former Employee) - Oxford - 13 April 2023
You can wait 3 weeks for work. The care managers lie too. When you decline a placement they will not be supportive. The agency don't always match you with a client that you will be able to manage.
Pros
3 hour lunch break and 8 hour break
Cons
Not enough placements for the carers they hire

2 May 2023Firstly we want to thank you for your service at Oxford Aunts and are pleased to see that you were happy with the amount of breaks you received each day as we want all our carers to get the rest they deserve and to have a good work-life balance. At Oxford Aunts we are open and honest, we pride ourselves on this and are saddened that you felt lied to as we do our utmost to ensure our carers are matched based on their profile and skills and as soon as we possibly can depending on client availability and suitability. Whilst it is difficult to know your individual circumstances, we encourage all our teams to reach out to their line manager in the first instance if they have any worries or concerns. We also have support systems in place which include regular 1 to 1 meetings with a line manager to discuss any concerns and a free confidential support from our central office 24/7 365 to discuss anything that may of adversely impacted your wellbeing, health or your work. We would welcome you the opportunity to reach out to us directly so that we can better understand your experiences.
Great place to work so far
Live in carer (Current Employee) - Oxfordshire - 4 July 2022
I had more personal experience than work related experience when I began working with Oxford aunts. The training provided was thorough, interactive and very in depth. Work is plenty and the support I have received in the few months I have worked has been amazing from all managers, who are engaged in every case work and take the necessary steps to ensure all is up to date and ensuring a healthy client - carer relationship is maintained. Salary is paid weekly (every Monday) which on it's own is amazing, although the pay could be better due to the amount of work especially as a live-in carer.

5 July 2022Thank you for your wonderful feedback! It is great to see that you found the training thorough as it shows that our extensive training is making a difference. Secondly, we are pleased that you feel supported, as our live-in carers wellbeing is very important to us. This is why we have a 24/7 emergency support available so our carers feel like they are never on their own. Thank you for choosing Oxford Aunts.
Generous time for R&R
Live in carer (Current Employee) - Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire - 25 June 2022
I have worked for Oxford Aunts (O.A.) for 2.5 yrs and been very happy in my three long-term (ongoing) placements. Unexpected issues were promptly and efficiently dealt with by O.A Management to the satisfaction of both Carer and Client. O.A. is flexible as regards length of assignments. I prefer to work at least six-months in placement. This regimen allows for continuity for both Client and Carer. This is quite feasible given the generous three-hour break each day; with one day an eight-hour break (after being in placement for longer than two weeks). The inclusive person-centred Management-Carer-Client ethos (rather than legal and financial); makes O.A. a lovely company to work for.

- Clear sense of purpose
Great company to work for. Friendly, helpful employers.
Live in carer (Current Employee) - Camberley, Surrey - 24 June 2022
Compared to another company I worked for, I find Oxford Aunts less stressful. I have lots of time off, more than previously experienced and have been the main carer for my client for two years now. It is far easier to be in employed positions than Self employed where I moved around every 2 to 3 weeks and many positions not being suitable. The Care Managers are always available to advise, encourage and support.
Pros
Time off (3 hrs per day + 8 hrs weekly)
Cons
None

Great workplace culture and supportive team
Head Office (Current Employee) - Oxford, Oxfordshire - 15 February 2022
I'm lucky enough to work with a great team of people at Oxford Aunts. I feel listened to, encouraged and very well supported within my role. The office team is really like a family, they are very approachable and I know they will support me if I reach out to them. They've invested in leadership training and also in building a great workplace culture where we're encouraged to share our thoughts and feelings in a positive and open way. Every role has it's challenges, there have been a lot of pressures with working in care during a global pandemic, but I feel the team at OA has really pulled together and supported each other during the challenges.
Pros
Rewarding work, Great teamwork, Supportive management

22 February 2022Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. It's great to read that you feel a sense of belonging and that you are supported and feel listened to. We think we have a great team here at TGCG and know that without all of their hard work we wouldn't be able to provide 'outstanding' care to our clients. Thank you for being a part of what makes us great and for navigating the challenges the pandemic has raised alongside us.
Full on, but rewarding
Full Time Carer (Former Employee) - Botley, Oxfordshire - 15 February 2022
The days are always busy, repetitive one day and varied another. Flexibility and diversity, along with being proactive brings reward not only to me ,but also to clients. Our workplace culture has united us as a team and increased our awareness when dealing with challenges, stresses that present themselves and feeling safe to "have that conversation" in order to address them. The management are empathetic to listening and supporting the staff because they are approachable and reliable and professional. The hardest part can be challenging long days , but this is not often. Generally the reward is from clients who share how much difference an OA carer like myself has made to their lives.

A place where I get to make a real difference
General Manager (Current Employee) - Oxford, Oxfordshire - 9 February 2022
I have worked for Oxford Aunts for a couple of years. There is good leadership in place with a strong culture and set of values. You can see that real effort is made to connect with everyone no matter what role they are in from office staff to carers. No company is perfect but what I like is the genuine effort to put things right or understand how to improve a carers experience, especially when its such a hard job.
Pros
Good, stable company with a team who care about you no matter the job role.
Cons
Working in care! Its hard work no matter where you are so choosing the right company is important.

Mostly detached and impersonal
Live in carer (Current Employee) - Oxfordshire and surrounding counties - 7 February 2022
Support is there, if we ask for it. It is seldom offered and quite often, even when asked for, it is slow, ineffective and doesn't provide the level of support required. Salary is reasonable but not adjusted / upgraded when it should be - takes weeks to upgrade and so carer is doing the work but not getting the appropriate pay.
Pros
Good time off
Cons
Management too detached and out of touch

Official response from Oxford Aunts Care
9 February 2022Thank you for posting your review. I am really sorry to hear that you feel we are detached and impersonal as we all know how isolating live in care can be and the team at OA genuinely strive to be the exact opposite of that. If you feel you could reach out to either the Registered Manager or myself as the General Manager so that we can talk about your concerns, we would be happy to listen and help. You are absolutely right that you should be rewarded appropriately for your work. As we all know, a client's care level can require change and whilst we always aim to do that as quickly as possible, in some cases we have to do more work with the family and the client to get them to see it. That does not mean that any carer should be let down by that process so come and talk with us and let's work together to achieve a solution. Louise Joslin General Manager
Oxford Aunts cares deeply about their clients but they also care deeply about their employees.

Supportive and caring environment

Deserved Reputation
Care Assessor (Current Employee) - Oxford/ Home - 11 June 2021
Having worked previously in the NHS, I was aware of the excellent reputation Oxford Aunts have. It is well deserved. I applied straight away when I saw the advert because I wanted to work somewhere where the staff and the Clients were valued. I am not disappointed. The team work is wonderful and so is the work ethic. Would definitely recommend Oxford Aunts as an Employer.
Pros
Good pay, Good support network, person centred care, honesty
Cons
Long hours (but worth it and rewarded)
