Oxford Aunts Care Employee Review

Not enough placements

You can wait 3 weeks for work. The care managers lie too. When you decline a placement they will not be supportive. The agency don't always match you with a client that you will be able to manage.

Pros

3 hour lunch break and 8 hour break

Cons

Not enough placements for the carers they hire

Firstly we want to thank you for your service at Oxford Aunts and are pleased to see that you were happy with the amount of breaks you received each day as we want all our carers to get the rest they deserve and to have a good work-life balance. At Oxford Aunts we are open and honest, we pride ourselves on this and are saddened that you felt lied to as we do our utmost to ensure our carers are matched based on their profile and skills and as soon as we possibly can depending on client availability and suitability. Whilst it is difficult to know your individual circumstances, we encourage all our teams to reach out to their line manager in the first instance if they have any worries or concerns. We also have support systems in place which include regular 1 to 1 meetings with a line manager to discuss any concerns and a free confidential support from our central office 24/7 365 to discuss anything that may of adversely impacted your wellbeing, health or your work.We would welcome you the opportunity to reach out to us directly so that we can better understand your experiences.

Great place to work so far

I had more personal experience than work related experience when I began working with Oxford aunts. The training provided was thorough, interactive and very in depth. Work is plenty and the support I have received in the few months I have worked has been amazing from all managers, who are engaged in every case work and take the necessary steps to ensure all is up to date and ensuring a healthy client - carer relationship is maintained.Salary is paid weekly (every Monday) which on it's own is amazing, although the pay could be better due to the amount of work especially as a live-in carer.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback! It is great to see that you found the training thorough as it shows that our extensive training is making a difference. Secondly, we are pleased that you feel supported, as our live-in carers wellbeing is very important to us. This is why we have a 24/7 emergency support available so our carers feel like they are never on their own. Thank you for choosing Oxford Aunts.

Generous time for R&R

I have worked for Oxford Aunts (O.A.) for 2.5 yrs and been very happy in my three long-term (ongoing) placements. Unexpected issues were promptly and efficiently dealt with by O.A Management to the satisfaction of both Carer and Client. O.A. is flexible as regards length of assignments. I prefer to work at least six-months in placement. This regimen allows for continuity for both Client and Carer. This is quite feasible given the generous three-hour break each day; with one day an eight-hour break (after being in placement for longer than two weeks). The inclusive person-centred Management-Carer-Client ethos (rather than legal and financial); makes O.A. a lovely company to work for.

Great workplace culture and supportive team

I'm lucky enough to work with a great team of people at Oxford Aunts. I feel listened to, encouraged and very well supported within my role. The office team is really like a family, they are very approachable and I know they will support me if I reach out to them. They've invested in leadership training and also in building a great workplace culture where we're encouraged to share our thoughts and feelings in a positive and open way. Every role has it's challenges, there have been a lot of pressures with working in care during a global pandemic, but I feel the team at OA has really pulled together and supported each other during the challenges.

Pros

Rewarding work, Great teamwork, Supportive management

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. It's great to read that you feel a sense of belonging and that you are supported and feel listened to. We think we have a great team here at TGCG and know that without all of their hard work we wouldn't be able to provide 'outstanding' care to our clients. Thank you for being a part of what makes us great and for navigating the challenges the pandemic has raised alongside us.
