Love working here

Everyone is wonderful, inspiring and considerate. The culture is wonderful with a real care and concern about flexibility and mutual respect. Remote working ability and understanding of life outside work.

Pros

Great benefits, pay, flexibility, management and culture

Cons

Work on public funded projects so job not always secure when things are changed up every few years

Micro managing, un-trusting and old fashioned management style

A great business with a brilliant service and excellent team members however the Cornwall office culture is appalling . The office is an oppressive, over controlled, toxic environment where you’re made to feel un-trusted and constantly micro managed. HR are based out of county and although they’re aware of the problem, they have no interest in doing anything about it. If you value your mental health, I wouldn’t recommend an office role here.

Pros

Great service and coaching team

Cons

Office culture

Self-serving

The management is focused on profit and self-promotion. Customers and staff come a distand fourth - inconvenient though necessary evils. This is an organisation that has designed learning out of its business model.

Pros

Some great colleagues

Cons

Contribution to innovation not recognised

Rather sexist and outdated organisation

Felt they worked for themselves rather than helping businesses. Outdated approach and many women felt they were not treated equally. The modules they claimed as theirs came from other people and they took coaches work and put their own name to it. Business didnt like the 'no solution' approach and often failed to see the benefit.

As the Procurement and Contracts Manager - Every day was different!

There was no typical day at OI. Procuring for 24 centres often led to different priorities and on a daily basis. To add to my procurement and contract skills, I learned a lot about procuring services in Belfast to a strict buy local, buy social policy. A policy that I had to write in accordance and approved by Belfast City Council. Whilst regeneration of the local area is key it did restrict the number of companies included in a tender process. Belfast proved to be the hardest part of the job during my tenure. The company is growing very quickly, the management were fair but do not always see the risks for the company now with 24 centres. The management do not always see the benefits and protection that the professional procurement can bring. As a culture Oi is a friendly place to work. Management work quite remotely so daily pressures and changes are not always communicated well. The most enjoyable part of the job is visiting the centres, understanding their requirements and showing best value for money results from tenders and quotes. A great team of people.

Pros

Good to vist and see centres

Cons

Not able to show off my quality and environmenal skills in this role

I loved it here and was devastated when made redundant

I filled up the building with Tenants within 3 months and loved it there for 3 years, when they had a re-shuffle of management structure and 6 managers were made redundant,

Pros

Loved it

Cons

Long hours

interesting and good company to work for

I worked on the GrowthAccelerator program - I loved it and enjoyed helping SME's gain access to grant funding to support them to grow. A typical day would start around 6 in the morning at a networking meeting, with several phone calls and meetings booked for after breakfast. The end of the day there would be lots of admin to complete but in the end the best part was being in control of my day and helping other to access funding.

Pros

Home Based, Flexable working

Cons

Long Hrs

Lacking in strategic direction and program funding

A Small consultancy company who have morphed from a handful of management consultants to approx 50 employees in a short period of time and who are experiencing significant growing pains.

Pros

Flexible working conditions

Cons

no senior management direction
