Great colleagues but company only cares about shareholders
Consultant (Current Employee) - South West London - 3 August 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWas amazing, love everyone there. They are super friendly and I had some great opportunities. Middle management really care but upper management only care about share price and this has become increasingly apparent in recent months. Theyre still hiring after letting people go and there are people who have been projectless for months.
Pros
Great work life balance, healthy environment, big focus on upskilling
Cons
Heavy focus on utilisation, not enough jobs to go around, once youve been off a project for a while you get overlooked for work

Good place to work
Consultant Analyst (Former Employee) - London - 18 September 2023
Good place to work, flexible working conditions. Like all consultancy it’s all about billable hours and getting on to a project. Promotion cycles are once per year and not frequent enough which leads to a loss of talent

Great people but too much focus on utilisation
Management Consultant (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 23 January 2023
The people are great. They really care about you and want you to succeed. One of the smartest and friendliest people out there. But it can be hard to get on projects. Too many people on the bench

A good place to work
Management Consultant (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 10 November 2022
Overall a good place to work. They support their people to build skills and develop. There is a lot of autonomy over your own career. Progression requires tough choices around work life balance though. They try to present a family vibe to the workplace and culture but profit will always come first before people.
Pros
Learning opportunities
Cons
Long hours

This was a highly stressful environment
Senior Managing Consultant (Former Employee) - Middle East - 7 March 2022
I felt the group were more focused on winning jobs than placing the right consultants with the right skill sets in the job. The work was relentless with long hours under a significant amount of stress to hit extremely challenging deadlines. The workplace culture is a dog eat dog culture where everyone is trying to win bids even if it means riding rough shod over others
Cons
Long hours and general culture.

Amazing culture, great people
Analyst (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 24 February 2022
Supportive and collaborative culture, not hierarchical. People want you to learn and always put in the effort even if they are a lot more senior than you. The only two downsides I see is the pay and promotion cycle. PA is going through a growth phase and there is work being conducted at the moment on these aspects so hopefully it will improve soon. All in all, best place to start your career, work on really interesting projects that all have innovation at the core! We work in a wide range of industries so there is the possibility to tailor your experience at PA. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far and have met so many wonderful and intelligent people who make the projects even more interesting!

Innovative, supportive, high striving culture
Senior Consultant (Current Employee) - London - 20 November 2021
PA is not the highest paying consultancy but a good employer. Most importantly, the culture is supportive, innovative and high energy. An assignment cannot be a success for the client if someone in the PA team is not at their best, so (in 9 out of 10 cases), there is a supportive culture of improving and helping each other.
Pros
Culture
Cons
Long hours

Great people but poorly run company
Partner in PA Consulting (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 14 September 2021
Entrenched culture, with no willingness or capacity to change. Too many vested interests among partners who had their own domains, were making big money and did not want to work with others, fearing dliuting their earnings, instead of thinking about the broader opportunities for growth
Pros
Some great colleagues
Cons
Management system means everyone looks after themselves

Jobs at PA Consulting
Regret leaving
Consultant (Former Employee) - Remote, London - 13 September 2021
I joined PA in Sep 2020 during covid lockdown. After 10 months was head hunted to join a "Startup-up". Having been there for a month, I started to miss my work and the culture which I enjoyed at PA. I felt I missed the outstanding support line managers, MCs and partners provided. It was like a big family and everyday it grew or found someone new to collaborate with. PA is truly an amazing consultancy firm and the vast industries they serve is a testament to their thought leadership and capabilities. Wish I could turn the time to that day I was head hunted, certainly would have made a different call. However didn't walk away with no experience still learned and gain some experience working in a startup environment.
Pros
Very employee wellbeing focus and yearly PDP review not just dont as a tick box excercise.
Cons
Remote onboarding should be related to the role/position rather than the over GTM/capability.

Principal (Former Employee) - Greater London - 16 August 2021
Good working bunch and with real career opportunities. Working hours and typical of consulting organisations but people are flexible and try to look out for you.

Nice people dreadful management
Managing Consultant (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 15 June 2020
I was laid off as soon as the coronavirus lockdown started. I had a difficult account requiring a significant amount of work to establish PA as a preferred supplier. PA decided as I was not able to sell a significant piece of work I was surplus to requirements. I was disappointed how quickly they ditched me and felt the decision was rushed and Covid was simply seen as an opportunity to get rid of people.
Pros
Nice people, interesting work
Cons
Targets are difficult to achieve if working on a new account

Great colleagues, poor management
Managing Consultant (Former Employee) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire - 18 March 2020
PA claims to be a leader in innovation (or "ingenuity" more recently), but they cannot break with their own conservative business model. It's a great place to work and advance as a junior consultant or analyst. However, advancement opportunities evaporate just below Partner level. Also, as a point of caution, almost no one who is hired in as a Managing Consultant or Partner lasts more than 2 years.
