Toxic workplace and will throw you under the bus.

Just don't do it.Worst company to work for will dismiss you rather than train you properly. All management still working from home as if COVID still a thing and will just throw you an email rather than talk to you.Avoid at all costs

Pros

Paid to sleep

Cons

Lond days. No support, training all on a computer

Unsupportive management

Pebbles can be a rewarding place to work but lack of support from management makes it difficult to remain positive about your job role. Long hours and lack of staff means you’re sometimes expected to work overtime without choice.

Can be rewarding but can face some challenging times

Long hours, sometimes away from home for 42 hours at a time and longer of short staffed. Can be rewarding but also some challenging times. Managers are awful

Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear your experience working with us wasn't positive and would welcome further feedback at talktous@pebblescare.com

Cover Ups

Management will constantly cover up an issue rather than deal with it. Anything from PI's to safeguarding. A really poor company to work for and while they promote that the children are at the heart of what they do is completely false

Great place to work

I have worked with Pebbles for a number of years, joining as an RCCW and have been supported through those roles to become a Registered Manager. The company offer fantastic training and benefits and encourage everyone to progress and develop in their roles. There is a great psychological input and a huge focus on therapeutic parenting which ensure the children and young people are given the care and nurture they deserve. We are one big family, where everyone cares for, encourages and supports each other.

Amazing place to work

I have worked with Pebbles Care for a couple of years now, all the staff and management have been great to work with and very welcoming and supportive. The YP in the company are good to work with, I have learned so much while starting with Pebbles and it is a good company with lots of opportunities for staffs CPD.

Great team, great support, fantastic training, development opportunities

I've worked in residential childcare for 15 yrs. I've worked with a few companies in all roles at all levels.I have been fully supported in a registered manager role to build on my skills to take on a new role and I absolutely love my job. I feel valued and supported.I am excited about the future plans for the company and how this will impact our young people.I've had some amazing training and development input.Residential child care is not for everyone but if you are passionate about the role and want to develop this is the company to be with!

Would not advise people work for this company

Company is not trustworthy and not at all supportive! Will lie to get around things to get what they want. Would never advise anyone work for the company. Staff shortage (as with ant care job) however staff are put at risk due to this. Having said that it was probably one of the best jobs I've had but that was down to the staff team and childre I worked with and I have formed some very good friendships with my staff team. Due to long hours you find yourself having a little work family

Pros

Free lunch, health care plan (although I never needed to claim it)

Cons

Long hours, no support from company management, lack of respect from company management, sneaky, not trustworthy

Breath of fresh air

Since starting my job with Pebbles my role has evolved regularly with the growth the business has seen. I have been challenged and mentored and have grown in my role. I have been involved in projects that I would never have imagined that I could or would complete and the sense of accomplishment along with the team work ethos is fantastic. The business really does have a family feel about it and I am excited to see where my journey with Pebbles takes me next.

Very Rewarding and Changed for the better

Having worked Previously for Pebbles it was progressively moving in the right direction and Very therapeutic towards the care of the children and a positive and consistent environment. Some major policy and working practice changes along with a lot of uncertainty and lack of communication led to a lot of staff leaving and the follow on that this leaves . However since rejoining it’s plain to see that throughout the company these teething problems have been thoroughly addressed and Pebbles is an extremely good place to work . Really Decent management and fantastic teams really shows and the company is heads above the rest in regards to Therapeutic and Nurturing care and something the company is keen to further educate and push forward and definitely for the better. This is again shown in the behaviours and comments from the children within Pebbles and how safe and cared for they feel. With everyone on the same page in regards to care and how to provide it to help the children flourish it’s a really rewarding and family atmosphere place to work and highly recommended, For those chasing then”Dollar” I’d say it’s the wrong place as Pebbles is very much about the young people which come first which itself is a great trait . I love working here and everyday is not only for-filling but also a home from home and the young people are somewhat amazing in themselves. I would highly recommend Pebbles for those that really care and want to help enrich the lives of children and not those seeking easy money or self gain.Looking forward it seems it can only get better and the consistency -

Pros

the young people, family atmosphere, support and training

Cons

non really.

We are so pleased to welcome you back into the Pebbles family and are pleased to hear your feedback. Our young people are at the heart of everything we do and we're happy to hear that you can see the benefits from the investments we have made to ensure all our team members can do an amazing job and can progress in their roles through in-house training and learning opportunities.

Good and bad

Good money and hours. Kids are great. Managers lack people skills and focus more on house work rather than working with young people. Can have a negative impact on your mental health.

Therapeutic work environment

I can say that when I first started I felt unsure about the working environment and the approach used. Pebbles however for the past 2 years have worked hard to ensure that a therapeutic model has been adapted throughout the company. The organisation became much more focused on the young people and ensured that the staff at all levels, are child focused. The difference to the young people has been amazing and the results from a therapeutic approach are clear. I would encourage anyone who is interested in working with young people and who has a genuine care and passion for the difference that they can make, to apply. The job can be challenging at times but is very rewarding.

Pros

Free lunches, free activities with the kids, supportive management, supportive team and a nice place to work

Cons

Long hours

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review, we're glad that you are part of our Pebbles family.

Enjoyable time

I worked for Pebbles care for a number of years and I can truly say I enjoyed most of ever second of it. During my time I was provided me with lots of opportunities to enhance my learning and develop my skills.Yes, 100% things can be challenging as your working with children and young people who have experienced trauma in there lives that these amazing young people have and this requires a great deal of passion, patience and empathy, its a must that you are able to look beyond the actions of the young people and as this is the way they sometimes communicateYes at times unnecessary pressure is placed on the staff team with in the homes. However, this is mainly due to the huge pressure that this sector is currently facing as are most of the care sector, a lot of the time it’s due to supporting your team during situations, such as sicknesses ect.Yes the hours can be very long & draining but generally the team spirit within the homes is great! and you all help each other out.The homes provide a great level of care for the young people, the nurturing ways in which the homes works really does help the young people to make positive changes / relationships in there lives, The young people have excellent sensors and can very quickly sense who wants to be there supporting them and who can't be bothered. If you truly won’t a rewarding job and your willing to put in the effort, the time, your passionate about achieving the best and have vast amounts of patience and empathy, then this is definitely be the job for you!!

Pros

Free meals

Cons

Long hours, sleepovers

We are extremely glad to read how much you’ve enjoyed working with us. We love supporting our employees to grow in their roles and are fortunate to have so many passionate team members that truly care about making a real difference in young people’s lives and fully embrace our unique therapeutic approach. As you mentioned, due to the nature of the sector, in cases of sickness, annual leave, etc., extra efforts might be required to ensure we keep delivering consistent care, and that’s where collaboration amongst our people proves to be one of our key strengths. Thank you for your valuable feedback and for having been part of the Pebbles’ family, we wish you all the best in your future endeavours!

Fun and loving environment for all who work there and all who are looked after

I have worked for pebbles just shy of 4 years and its was the best move i made at the time.I have worked in previous residential environments and I have not enjoyed my time there as much as I have in the home I currently work in...We have an amazing team and recently I was able to progres into a higher role through support from my fellow employees and my manager.. I was also supported to achieve my qualifications required for my SSSC something which was not accommodated at my previous employments. My manager is supportive and has supported me through progressing into my current role and supported myself and my family sometime last year when we had my step daughter staying with us full time for a few weeks. They were so approachable and accommodating where they could be and so were my team members. The job at times will and can be stressful and demanding and there are times you will feel overwhelmed but the team itself pulls everyone's moral up when it's needed and we are like a big family which is nice for our young people to see.. our young people have expressed they feel loved and safe and this is what the job is all about... The hours are long at the time when working but the days off inbetween are great and it's such a good work life balance, this has been recognised by my family who now get more time with me at home.

Pros

Good work like balance. Free Meals, Activities, Fun

Cons

Long Hours which some may struggle with being away from family

Welcoming, Inclusive and Challenging.

I personally really enjoy working for Pebbles in Roberton. I am part of a fantastic team that feels a lot more like family. I get to look after amazing young people, celebrating their successes and helping to guide them through difficult times. My work life balance is optimum, with me having plenty of time to make music and see family/friends on my time off.I feel valued as part of the team here, with each person bringing quirks and strengths to the team.My manager has been nothing but supportive, understanding and flexible when I have asked for any help or guidance in my practice. Training in several different areas is provided, with a stimulating training team helping to compound my understanding and help to translate any learning points into the working environment.I am proud of what I have achieved during my time here and even more proud of what I have had an active role in helping the young people in my care to achieve.

Thank you for being such a valued member of our team. We are proud to have so many caring and passionate people like you at Pebbles!

Great job - Great crowd.

Having been a Foster carer for over 10 yrs, changes meant it was time for a career move. Having a friend who worked for Pebbles was great as I had an insight to the Company ethics and understandings. I very much like the Therapeutic way they do things, and support for the Young People is paramount in their daily routines. I have been with Pebbles now over 1 year ,and love my work life balance ,which suits my lifestyle. I had worked pretty much alone in my career as a Foster Carer , but now find the Team spirit to be very helpful as all staff share good and bad daily situations. My Manager goes through a de-brief daily to ensure that all staff are supported in what is a challenging but rewarding role. Great development and training is also very important to ensure staff are suitably trained in their roles.

Pros

Work life balance

Cons

None to date

supportive team and management

I’ve worked for pebbles around 3 and a half years now and feel extremely supported by my team and manager in my role, I know that in my role I have gained more experience and confidence within myself through support from those I work with at pebbles and also being given opportunities to expand my knowledge and further develop my training. working in this kind of environment can be demanding at times but working with a great team around you who helps guide and support each other through each day helps develop lasting relationships with each other and with the kids.
