Promised higher rates over festive period, including boxing day and new years eve/day, noticed these payments didn't go through and when I contacted payroll and my supervisor they stated that the venue hadn't agreed to this so they weren't going to pay out. On top of that I was promised a wage after my probationary period (probationary period is 3 months, regardless of whether you're experienced or not), it's been 4 months since I finished my probationary period and I'm still on the wage I started on. Even after multiple promises that the pay was going to be sorted I've just found out they never had any intention of rectifying this until the end of the tax year. 4 months of lying to my face. And the jacket fillers. My God. We have a permanent 3 man team for a four man door, so our fourth constantly changes. The amount of jacket fillers we've had to DNR is ridiculous. To the point where I was attacked and the JF on the door with me just stood there. If it wasn't for the doorman from the bar next door... And to top it all off, it's a zero hour contract. No guarantees of hours/shifts. No sick or holiday pay. Low pay anyway. And you pay your own insurance, which comes off your pitiful wage, as well as your weekly deduction to the company (ÂŁ6 per week) for your uniform, which is just a jacket and tie. If you don't rake anything else from this review, just take this: stay away from this company.
Pros
Better than being on the dole. Just.
Cons
Poor wage, alot of pay deductions, no security, lied to by management, more dangerous than it needs to be due to incompetent staff
