Unsupported and over worked not all info given at start
Mobile Sales and Service Technician (Former Employee) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire - 30 October 2023
After joining I was sent for training in Birmingham for 2 weeks. Very basic training and not all information given. Do not tell you that there is on call every week and that overtime is only paid at the hours they charge even if you work over them. No support and expected to know everything. Expected to visit company’s and gain work from them even tho they don’t want you there. Poorly organised van that you spend half your day driving round in to sites, with very little information on why you are there. And god for bid you suffer with mental health as the job is stressful with no breaks given. Expected to take lunch while driving to jobs. If you do suffer with mental health there be prepared to be dismissed with out warning
Pros
None
Cons
No breaks long hours no thanks

hydraulic hose technition (Former Employee) - Northampton - 9 October 2023
Training away from home for 2 weeks was ok but i feel not all areas were covered its pretty basic training and then your given a van and your out on the road . If you have never been up close to a jcb before you will very quickly feel out of your depth and a lot of the job is driving around in your allocated area visiting companys trying to gain work for yourself and pretty much become a mobile sales person at this point. Management are unhelpful when you phone in and ask how to unbolt a cab from a digger to get to hydrolic hoses a bear in mind you have probably been near 1 of these vehicles in your live you get well you will just have to figure it out, the lads are ok but dont really want to help you out because they are too busy trying to earn their own bonus so time out to help you as a novice is not in their interest basically after training you are on your own. It is possible to earn a decent wage if you can deal with sussing stuff out on your own but its just not that simple if you just dont know how some of these plant vehicles are put together . If your a very confident mechanic or plant fitter with the gift of the gab you will prob do well if your a fast fit tec /tyre fitter with mech experience you might find it a bit rough dealing with cranes machines and diggers that you have never been near in your life . Great job if you can make it work
Pros
Good wage if you can make it work
Cons
Long week incl every other saturday and night call out rota

Awful job populated by Toxic people
Centre manager Pirtek (Former Employee) - North Midland - 24 July 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Really very little , this is a dead end career with very little prospects. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Constant scrutiny, nothings ever quite good enough, bend over backwards for zero appreciation. Expected to perform miracles What is the work environment and culture like at the company? From completely unprofessional to Absolutely toxic. Expect to be stabbed in the back What is a typical day like for you at the company? Solving other people’s problems perform miracles - no breaks go home late wondering why I’m doing this.

Shocking
Field Technician (Former Employee) - North Scotland - 6 July 2023
Promise you the earth, Bonus scheme that literally doesn't exist Being on call every week Part of the role is to do sales calls driving around trying to bring in business but pirtek is too expensive for most companies but you've got to do so many per week even visiting the same people over again.! embarrassing! Go on training to Birmingham but you if you leave within the year they take £2000 course fees from you so your stuck. You have to buy your own tools to do the jobs they need you to do. Understalked van. Despite asking for equipment fails to turn up. Turning up to jobs not knowing what to do with little or no communication from management Some jobs need two people and you're expected to get on with it with one.
Pros
Good training
Cons
Everything

A decent place to work in London
Working at Pirtek is a varied and challenging role. No two days are the same with some days more challenging than the others. you can earn some excellent money if you have the right work ethic and are willing to get stuck in, great training and excellent health and safety set up, no travel costs to and from work as van provided. there is an on call rota which is usually 1 week in 3 but we are sometimes expected to cover which is fully paid , if you work as a team you will have no problems at all, although this job is not for everyone but the pros and cons were explained at the interview.
Pros
company van, phone, uniform, training and progression, earning potential
Cons
on call rota, working in all weathers

Good lads to work with

Company salary is poor. Management very poor. No training or instruction. This company has a very high turn over of staff due to the poor running of the company

Hard work but paid well
Fitter (Former Employee) - London South East, Greater London - 24 June 2022
Working as a MST can be challenging and hard work. Not a job for everyone but pays well if you hit bonus and have overtime. Everyday is different and management are firm but fair with me. They make it clear what is expected and help where they can.

Good range of work bad management
Mobile service & sales technician (Former Employee) - Gloucester - 9 April 2022
New to the industry I really enjoyed doing new things and learning, but was thrown in the deep end and spoken down on when I didn’t know something or was struggling. Left on bad terms after being treated unfairly and had my wages taken for the “training costs” because I’d only worked there 6 months.

Terrible place to work
If you’re someone who wants to be paid badly and have no social life then pirtek is the place for you! You’ll be asked to do things that isn’t apart of your job and often asked to go against health and safety just to please the customer, if you do decide to work here they will send you on course but if you leave within a year you have to pay the whole course back so basically trapping you, the on call rota you’d think doesn't sound to bad but you’ll most likely be covering the whole of London of other centres, you could get called out at 1 in the morning and not get home till gone 5 but you’ll be expected at work for 8, if you’re late they will take it out your wages too.

Pros
Good bonus structure / support
Cons
Call outs/ basic salary/ Christmas rota and no progression

Turn back before you get sucked in.
Service technician (Former Employee) - Plymouth, Devon - 16 January 2022
The problem isn't with the company but the franchise owner and management. You either get a good one or you don't. Lots of false promises. Doesn't look after or care for employees. You have to pay back training if you leave within 2 years so you're stuck there unless you can afford to leave. They moved my working area with made it impossible as a single Dad. They are just very sour due to their competitors that have a much lower staff turnover.
Pros
Money, van
Cons
Long hours, call out, management, unprofessional
