Reviews about Pay & benefits for Police Officer at Police Scotland
Good place to work but difficult role
Police custody and security officer (Former Employee) - Dundee - 5 February 2022
I worked for police Scotland for only a few months in what was a difficult role. It was challenging and a little to much for me. However training was good and management supportive
Pros
Free lunch during training
Cons
Long hours and shift work

Very difficult and stressful job
Police Officer (Former Employee) - Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh - 4 January 2022
Pros: excellent job security, extremely varied, salary goes up every year, get to make a genuine difference. Cons: horrible work/life balance due to shift pattern/unsocial hours, resourcing is very low and staff rarely get a break on shift, welfare is awful, exposure to dangerous situations, high workload, difficult to progress, salary isn't high enough for the work involved

Excellent rewarding career
Police Officer (Former Employee) - Scotland - 16 April 2023
This job will not suit everyone. It can be long hours, days off can be cancelled at short notice. That said I had a wonderful career. Very rewarding especially when you have positive outcomes. Training is (and has to be) excellent.
