HGV Class 1 Driver tramper (Current Employee) - Newcastle upon Tyne - 3 October 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe job itself is fine. Trucks ain’t bad. trailers are past there best. Traffic office staff tell you want you want to hear be it the truth or just a load of bull so the job gets done. Money isn’t bad but could be better, that applies to every job thou. All in all I’ve working in worse places and better places but every job is what you make of it, just don’t let them run you down and it all works out eventually.
Pros
Left alone once you get jobs
Cons
Wages. Hours and office staff attitude towards drivers

HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Birtley - 3 October 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Relaxed, they allow you to get the job done. No chasing around. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? There isn't one. Relaxed company, traffic office very helpful and understanding. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Good. All the lads get on, we support each other re overtime, fastballs etc What is a typical day like for you at the company? Go in go through the usual routine of checks, you'll already know where you're going, it's quite standard, no stress.

Management poor planning poor. Trailer poor. Loss contracts. Track you all the time, until they go home. Stay away.

HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Birtley - 1 November 2021
Now the wages are much better than before, the job has become a lot easier, not pushed or expected to do the impossible. Excellent trucks well maintained no one uses your truck on weekends. There is better out there but there is a lot worse, I only left because I retired.
Pros
Good Trucks Pay now reasonable
Cons
Still doing 4 to 5 nights out a week

Good set of lads, theres good and bad everywhere
Truck driver (Former Employee) - Bathgate, West Lothian - 17 June 2021
If your a tramper your work life balance is going to be partly weekend partly your time off down the road. Decent wages, decent tackle. 1 or 2 good lads in the office including the boss and transport manager. I spent over 15 years with them, and took the rough with the smooth. On several occasions the boss going out of his way to help me personally during difficult personal problems. I always had good trucks, the work wasn't bad, and decent pay.
Pros
Pay, banter, good work and kit, fair treatment.
Cons
Long hours, goes with the territory. If you want office hours? Dont be a trucker.

Long hours and very poorly paid.
Class 1 Night Driver (Former Employee) - Birtley, Tyne and Wear - 25 November 2020
I started this job with great enthusiasm, however that soon vanished when I discovered what work is required for the pay that is offered. Very very poor company to work for, no recognition from anyone within the company, the trucks are poorly kept. No one takes any pride in their job. The pay was just the last straw, very low and poor wages gives many of their drivers little or no drive. They expect a 12/13 hour a shift each night for not much money, there is no extra for doing nights either.
Pros
Non
Cons
Long hours, rubbish pay, dirty and badly kept vehicles. No help or recognition from any one in management.

The only thing letting them down was the wages
Pros
Good kit, and clean work
Cons

AVOID (Not recommended)
HGV 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Bathgate, West Lothian and Fife - 29 March 2020
I Have been driving HGV 1 vehicles in multiple roles for nearly 3 decades so please listen up and take not everyone.
Very Low wages for driving a HGV class 1 vehicle
in real money terms it is not that far above national minimum wage for current tax year
Poor controllers and supervisor, with very poor aptitude to employees the contempt and arrogance of some supervisors and management is shocking actually rather staggering
Holidays and Time Off
Trying to book holiday time off at the same time as your spouse is off is regrettably rather difficult year on year and when you have booked it on the appropriate holiday request sheet paperwork form your controller will almost always forget to put it on the office planner in addition to not informing the wages department about the holiday request, this causes unnecessary stress delays in holiday payments and arguments. The holiday request system is flowed due to incompetent
Bad management aptitude toward all its employees
General management aptitude towards its employees is frankly rather shocking as most management and supervisors clearly have the aptitude all drivers are just worthless assets sitting behind a wheel that can easily be replaced immediately when required this is highlighted in the staggering turnover of driver’s monthly and yearly at all sites.
The Average New Driver will leave within 2.5 months
The average new driver stays just 3-6 weeks sometimes they may stay
3 to 6 months but after that they will have undoubtedly moved on.
There is the complimentary handful of drivers who are in most -
