As Chief Executive I’m proud everyday to see the work our colleagues carry out providing excellent care to patients and communities across the country – and in those services that support that delivery. We are committed to quality, to being a great partner to the NHS, and being a great place to work.

We are a really diverse organisation in lots of ways. Firstly in the services we provide – undertaking more than 80,000 operations a year in our hospitals, answering 3 million calls a year in our 111 and GP services and delivering care to thousands of prisoners with often complex needs. We do that in many different locations around the country. And we strive to encourage and build a diverse workforce, bringing the strengths of different experiences, professions and cultural backgrounds together.

Over and over again when staff join us they say they really enjoy the ability to deliver the care or service they were trained for, to innovate to improve what we do and to work in friendly, positive teams in an organisation that doesn’t have the feel of a big bureaucracy.
