Pret A Manger Employee Review
Productive and fun place
Team Member Trainer (Former Employee) - Luton Airport - 11 January 2021
I loved working here. There was a lot of career progression. Only sad thing was the whole sleep with a manager to get to where you want. Sadly it was the case for who was my assistnant manager and main manager at the time. Alot of staff were very angry at this happening but that was not for me to dwell on. I looked past it. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the friendly faces and some not so much. The regulars were always happy to see us. If it wasnt for my back problems, I would still be working there as i loved the buzz that this job gave me!
Pros
Free lunches, discounts around the other stores
Cons
Shift work, Long hours standing, poor pay

Great Company
Team Member Trainer (Former Employee) - United Kingdom - 29 April 2023
I personally enjoyed Pret. My Managers was always helpful and cared about my career progression with the company e.g (Stepping up further with more responsibility). They always listen and they were very strict BUT fair so there was never a problem. If your willing to learn and put the effort in, Pret is a great place to work. I would of stayed longer but unfortunately I had to Transfer and management wasn’t good in that shop HOWEVER most shops have good management.
Pros
Free Lunches, Discounts, Good team and management, flexible hours
Cons
Some shops don’t have as good management as some.

Miss old pret
Team Member Trainer (Current Employee) - London - 3 February 2023
After covid alot of the benefits of working at pret were gone. No paid breaks and food that was free for staff is no longer. They brought in coffee subscriptions which we did see an influx of customers but no staff to deal with it. Managers acted unprofessionally when speaking with staff and hid in office rest of time. Its a hard job to stand on ur feet 9+ hours. The break rooms are tiny and dirty so if more than 3 ppl are on break u wont get a seat and have to stand for ur break. Your expected to run inbetween stores to replenish stock or make deliveries. Dont really have work life balance as sometimes starting a 5am then others workin 8am -7pm. Alot of times by the time u travel home you had to be back in work few hours later. some stores close over xmas and new year due to local businesses being closed also, you then have to use the holidays u saved thro year or call around other stores to try and organize shifts over that time. Day to day is poorly organized and i feel lik pret has slipped on the quality and selection of what’s on sale. repeatedly penalising staff and stopping bonuses due to secret shoppers. You can give them best customer service but because you have said something in an exact order of words you then lose and store fails. For example if one wk we hav to push choc cookies on customers we have a ‘script’ if we dont do it word for word we fail. Which is difficult when u hav to listen put for previous coffee orders to hand out while service and cooking hot food.
Pros
Free coffee
Cons
Long hours on feet, under appreciated, always set up to fail. Benefits of paid breaks taken away.
