Stressful

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Manager is nice but team leader is rude; always telling me faster faster faster but did not indicate me how slow I am. That's the main point made me stressful and feeling useless. After discussed with manager, I think if team leader was follow standard to train new staff then it would be another story.

Pros

Free lunch, co-worker friendly

Cons

understaffed

Fun but stressful

There's always a lot of people coming and always a big queue at the doors. Quite stressful especially if you don't get along with your team. If you do then even those stressful times can be fun

Pret is so bad I don't know where to begin! :(

Pret has been the worst company I have ever worked in. Employees are exploited and only a few eho sit around in office have a good time and favored. Don't start at Pret you will regret it.

Pros

Nothing at all.

Cons

Pret is the worst to work at.

prepare for a decline in mental health

Hustle culture is part of the job here, if you’re interested in devoting all your time and effort and saying goodbye to your own responsibilities, look no further as I see that’s the only way of working your way up the Pret ladder. Pret exploits the vulnerability of foreign workers and truly bring a lot of responsibilities for them. Kitchen staff are exhausted everyday and work gruesomely long shifts and are expected to get the job done because of the music. It’s a shame really, morale has definitely decreased for all staff. At the end of the day, staff are crying and burnt out from the overwhelming responsibilities to do all within a strict time frame. It can be exhausting putting so much in and receiving so little out.

Pros

free lunches, smoke breaks

Cons

Overwhelming responsibilities

Don't even start there

I worked only for about a month when I just walked out again. Unbelievable workload compared to pay. Huge blame culture. The CEO doesn't seem to care not the managers as well. High turn over and those who stay carry the burden of the load. Worst company I have worked in.

Hectic

Working at Pret is very stressful, there is so much to be done and carrying two heavy trolleys at the same time is what really put me off, people are not to be treated as though they are animals.

Pros

Free lunch

Cons

Very stressful

Fun, fast paced, environment

I worked for pret for 13 years and loved every minute of it, I only left as I needed an elbow replacement and couldn’t do the job anymore so had to leave, great staff, fun and fast paced environment and get managers and area managers

I would not work here

Work is too stressful, management are awful, Ops manager is even worse. One person often doing the job of three. The coffee subscription is ruining staff morale, coffee machines breaking every week due to being over worked. Customers are entitled

Pros

Free food and coffee

Cons

Pay is not enough, over worked

Fun and fast paced environment with growth development

Started at pret at a young age and spent almost 10byears there, made me really appreciate the value of great service and helped me mould the person I have become today. I learned to mix and engage with different cultures and nationalities. Pay structure was really good.

Pros

Free lunch Staff discount

Cons

None

Busy, super tight schedule, supportive

Great way to get a secure job with competitive pay rate and high chance for self development. Interview is dead easy. you are very likely to get hired and make it to a leading and managing positions without even being fluent in English. Although it comes with a price. Pret employees tent to be very loyal and highly Pret-focused. You’ll get boosted with pret standards so intensively that you might even lose common sense.Back to back, it is a hard work, everything is time scaled to keep up with standards and that can get a bit stressful. However..Being trained by Pret is very valued reference on the job market so it is definitely worth it to get that experience.

Pros

Free meals on shift, bonuses, uniform, secure job, great company overall

Cons

Long hours, high pressure, tight deadlines

Stressful and pressuring

Interview and training made the job seem great! But it was not like that in real life, management is shocking and lazy! Most colleagues unreliable and self-orientated(no team work).Early starts and late finishes. Expectation of staff from all levels (except training) to have no break ‘unofficially’. Unpredictable as to what day you are going to have based on managers/staffs mood due to amount of stress and pressure of demand of workload (short staffed with no help from managers) also where staff are situated throughout the shift can change (giving a feeling of inequality, choosing one over another). Only good thing limited free food, unlimited free coffee, pay(to an extent) and development opportunities(to an extent).

Pros

Limited free food, unlimited free coffee, development opportunities(to an extent), pay(to an extent)

Cons

Long hours, horrible management, inequality(selecting one over the other), no team work, unpredictable, develop only if a position is available in current branch(or others meaning transfers), pay is not worth the stress and workload

Cons

Every shop is different

I had a chance to work different shops in the area and everyone was different with kind of customs, being busy, opening hours, days etc. Company is providing a very good training and gives you a chance to improve your skills with many different ways.

The company is not run well

No communication. The inconsistencies, the constant changes, the lack of communication drives everyone insane. The entire kitchen staff don't speak hardly english so communicating with them is extremely stressful! The tm on till is also the barista so you are having to make drinks in addition to serving customer.

Pros

Learned to stay calm in extremely stressful shops

Cons

Poor management. Poor staff attitude.
