Terrible culture, all about survival, who can smear manager more for pay and promotion. Toxic advantage by senior management. Overworked lowest pay they get away with. Disgusting company.

Overbaring work load

I worked in a small team with sick leaves most times, leaving us stressed out a lot. My manager was nice but stressed. He left a week after i started in this shop. I left soon later.

Pros

I wasn't working long enough to find pros

Cons

Work load is too much while the pay is low

Stressful place , lots of pressure

Years ago Pret was a happy place to work. Now you cannot have friends at work especially if you are manager , you will be pushed to being rude and bossy

Pros

Free food

Cons

Not flexible, pressure, unachievable targets

Not a bad job to start

It’s depends on where is the shop. If the shop is in a tough area or neighbourhood it will be ay difficult to handle the job. Other areas where normally people are polite is way easier

Zero points!

-10 points for free expired moldy food each day without time to eat. Were required to lie to customers about pretty much anything - from subscription allowance to broken equipment to ingredience shortage, you name it we had to lie! I never feel so poor in my conscients than when in Pret. I don't recommend and need thearpy.

Pros

Nothing

Cons

See up

No good for freshers or for longterm

Very high turnover that you never sure who turn up next day. Exploitation on every level. Unsafe workplace, no one wears a mask and social distancing is virtually impossible.

Cons

Fear driven management, lack of staff, no health and safety

not fun

not nice environment, rude leaders, low pay, abusive manager, tough work, unregulate hours, always running out of mask and saniticer, no socal distancing, bad overall

Cons

unsafe workplace

Lowest of the lowest

Over worked, underpaid, dodgy pay, and worst of all they are so short staffed in every area, they will stoop so low as to withdraw holiday just days before leaving. There are far better jobs out there, with far greater offerings.

Productive but no fun

Don't train everyone for production so if manager see you can do it they will make you do it every single time rather then rotation. Super fast production and drain you.

Pros

Free food but unpaid breaks that makes us cut breaks short to finish production.

Cons

Long hours, low pay.

Horrible

They will dump work on you as your a new comer. Really honestly was the worse job I ever had. The ops went off on whoever didn’t matter your position. Never gave you the time to explain, was just managed poorly.

Pros

Leaving

Cons

Fake dishonest dompany

Food and the hours were ok. Nothing else.

You don't get paid enough.Bad morale.Terrible culture with no growth potential. Bad management.Lie straight to your face.High standards hard to achieve.

Exploitation of workers

They want you to have full open availability but work part time hours stretched over ridiculous schedules - For example, it's not at all unuusual to be scheduled 9 days in a row and still not make full time hours. Covid is used a s excuse.

Modern day exploitation.

Do not get the hours you should get and get called up at the last minute to not go in. Constant nose wiping and sniffing including managment, surely this is against hygiene rules? Especially now with covid. I you complain they just make you do the worst job and shift. Having worked there I wouldn’t eat there. Lots of racism and prejudice.

Unreliable

Now everything relating to the negative side of pret comes from specifically how the shop and it's team members were handled, this might not be the same for other branches, as it entirely depends on the management and atmosphere of the other branches. Team members were not encouraged to do better by a high majority of the managers. Coming into the store was often greeted by silence, people weren't smiling, having no urge to work together.

Pros

Location of branches close to home

Cons

Very stressful!!

Huge workload and always expected to do the job of a team leader for minimum wage! Treat your staff better and you will keep your best employees. Also stop telling everyone how great the company is to work for and actually make it what you say it is!!!

Pros

Nothing, just stress!

Cons

Stress, lies, health problems

aweful

management was too in your face and trying to know every detail about your personal life, lack of trust, hours constantly cut and then called on your day of to cover shifts.

regret

rotas are riddled with problems, last minute changes to rotas, no communication, messy environment, holidays not given, requests ignored, poor health and safety standards, no leadership

Pros

meeting people, customers, coffee, location

Cons

management clueless, lazy and petty, pay, long hours, staff area, expired foods, dirty

Your expected to be extremely flexible all the time

- When the sales were not good the tm with the lowest productivity was send home - You can work hard and they don't care how tired you are or how long they work you - Terrible management, left everyone with anxiety

Cons

Long hours - no overtime payment - no health
Was this review helpful?

only short term if you have no other option

little consideration for team members needs and well being from the management extremely long hours with no certainty of when you finish, managers are manipulative in their rota hours and not very understanding with life out side of pret you never finish at the time it says on the rota

Pros

as much hot drinks you like

Cons

poor rotas pay is really bad

Rubbish!

You’re expected to be a robot you’re not allowed to talk, cause if you aren’t stressed you obviously don’t work hard enough if you stop for a second, 'you are not working' zero respect towards workers terrible management horrible company

Pros

coffee

Cons

management
