Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by Indeedhard work, high pace enviroment. Everything depends how the manager is good ,everything can be managed if you have a supportive team. Early hours ,not a place for lazy people. They have very strict standards and you can get a bonus every week if you dont fail the mistery shopper.

Hot Chef (Former Employee) - Chelmsford - 5 May 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? If you like high stress without the reward then go for it, oo and the team you'll have will be very 50/50. AND if you ever quit and want your documents say for a new job, good luck. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? If it's not the delivery drivers, it's the stock rotation, if it's not that it's missing items, if it's not that it's the very entitled clients, and if it's not that it's the constant stain on being perfect , and if it's not that it's the dysfunctional team What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Incredibly stressful. It will start all nice and cheery but less than a week and your doing jobs wayyy above your pay grade and the rest of the staff are too What is a typical day like for you at the company? Wake up, stress, rushing and everyone being annoyed at one another, team meeting about how we're not perfect and how things are missing again, stress until break, stress on break, stress, home, sleep for a few hours, stress

Slave company!
team member hot chef (Former Employee) - London North, Greater London - 24 June 2022
Since working at Pret my mental health is worse off than in any other company I have worked. The pay is very low in comparison to the work load and even late pay. Many of us call sick even when we loose pay. I couldnt take it anymore!

Good place to start from
Hot Chef - Full Time (Former Employee) - London - 9 May 2022
In pret you never stop working, with it you can learn a lot, from skills in the job to improve your language. There are many situations where you can learn how to proceed and behave after. Although is a really hard job they are flexible and most of the times I needed I could take holidays or days off.

There should have been changes on how management and overall staff are trained
Hot Chef specailist ( means nothing ) (Former Employee) - Brighton, East Sussex - 11 April 2022
Honestly I really loved working for pret before they became the money hungry don't care about there staff or customers company ut is today . There has and still is a complete lack of simple communication from the head office down to the managers of the shops , I find it ridiculous a company with this kind of reputation and popularity shows lack of caring and neglect .

Good place to work
Chef (Former Employee) - United Kingdom - 12 March 2022
I do think it is a good company to work for, I was just really unlucky with the managers I got. They were not helpful at all, I didn't receive proper training from them only my collegues helped me who were awesome indeed. Very busy, very tiring but good atmosphere thanks to the workmates not the mabagers, they weren't good for the place.

Productive and fun workplace
Hot chef - Full Time (Current Employee) - Cambridge - 4 March 2022
It is necessary to work really hard, but is a good workplace. Just day shifts because the shop close at 6 pm. The kitchen shifts are starting at 5.30 and finishing at 2.30 or 3.00 and this gives plenty of free time in the afternoon. The team is friendly and the managers kind.

3/5
Pros
Posibilidad de ascenso
Cons
Rollo secta

Good place to work in
Hot Chef (Former Employee) - Canary Wharf - 27 December 2019
I worked in Pret for several years. The salary is competitive for a job you do but it can be stressful. I met few good managers and few very bad who can't speak english so I don't know how they got their job
Pros
Good hourly rate, staff food, nice people to work with, dyscount 50%, good company organisation, a lot of opportunities, flexible working hours
Cons
Some managers don't speak english, some managers are very rude and demanding, can be stressful, very busy, ridiculous timing (serving customer in 60 seconds) or making coffee in 60 seconds, manager can give you a lot of stress

Getting brainwhased
Hot Chef (Former Employee) - Victoria, Greater London - 6 October 2019
They will brainwash you and make you believe you're as important as a surgeon while making sandwiches. Your're playing with lives my manager used to say regarding to manage sesame in the kitchen.

Good place to start your career
There are good benefits for people, staff is friendly and willing to help. Work environment is a bit stressful because of growing sales and understaffed.

Thank you, NEXT!
Hot Chef (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 23 May 2019
On any given day, I was asked to work harder and faster. Management does NOT communicate with each other, let alone the team members. In my shop, the managers go outside to smoke cigarettes multiple times a day and often take their favorite team members with them. It seems as if they target certain people until that person pushed themselves to the brink of exhaustion or until someone else comes along to dislike. Gossiping and backstabbing is a major focus. Every month there seems to be a new focus. Training for me and others mostly happens at home when we are not getting paid. There is no appreciation for those who actually are acting as team members because one tiny mistake and you’re on the chopping block... or for no mistakes, but management doesn’t like you. The most common phrase I have heard from management is: “I don’t have time.” Somehow, the team members are expected to make time for everything. Also, the nationality of the manager is usually the nationality that will be hired/promoted the most. Also, if you’re management your can talk in your native tongue, but all other languages spoken by other staff members is somehow unacceptable. I started taking antidepressants and having to see a therapist because of this job. The stress and mental anguish is definitely not worth it.
Pros
Free lunch, a free water bottle and getting paid
Cons
Unorganized management, rude behavior, being made to feel like I don’t matter, daily new rules and expectations
