Hard work place good team
Team Leader (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 15 September 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIf you’re lucky you can have a good management otherwise it’ll be a nightmare. I’m been working here almost 2 years, now we don’t have manager so everything is a bit messy they expect from you to do a lots of things even more than in your job description. If you want to work outside of the center of the city is all right. In the center is too much pressure on. Mistery shopper bonus is a nightmare as well something you’re working to hard and then someone fxxup the serving and you lose money.

Slavery
Team Leader (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 23 August 2023
Nothing more to say. Treated poorly, have to abide to ops manager and pressure from higher ups to reach target. Threatened to reach targets for weekly bonuses. Emotionally and physically draining. Too much gossip and immature people. Good thing is the food and even that you get bored of.

Unfairness
Team Leader (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 20 April 2023
GM and managers can be unprofessional and showing favourites especially those that speak the same mother tongue. Managers will put the blame on you to save their own skin and don’t accept your reasoning and didn’t acknowledge their mistake. Expected too much from leaders. Don’t care about work life balance. Expected shop to be tidy and clean but don’t allow us time to clean as their motto is customers first chores second, so when you landed in a super busy shop, there wasn’t any time to restock, arrange products and clean. When failed on mystery shoppers visit, Managers will put blame on leaders. Mystery shoppers weekly visits, internal safety random check every 3 months really put stress on every staff.

Used to be better
Team Leader (Current Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 29 March 2023
This used to be a great place to work and develop new skills. But recently it's all about cutting labour and still expecting same results and same level of standards. Many people are quitting due to amount of pressure/stress that is expected from management.

Great company
Team Leader (Former Employee) - London - 3 March 2023
My very first job, internal career opportunities, excellent training. In less than 2 years I progressed from Team member to Team Leader/trainer. Very much appreciated the opportunity the company gives to young people.

Fun but poor Management
Team Leader (Former Employee) - Stratford, Greater London - 17 February 2023
It’s a nice place to work. You can have great colleagues, great customers and interact with them. The job itself is stressful as it’s a coffee company and management makes it more stressful.

Hard and boring
Team Leader (Former Employee) - Portsmouth City Centre, Hampshire - 30 November 2022
Managment are rude, doesn't matter a lot of complaint about it. Early start, food are ok. Collegues are friendly and helpful most of them. Fast work enviromental.

It wasn't bad experience for me
Team Leader (Former Employee) - Central and Westminster - 6 July 2022
I couldn't complain much about pret (reading other's comments i feel i had some luck) When i worked there, there were paid breaks from 15 to 45 min. For few months when i got promoted to team leader i had these bad working hours that everyone talks about (one week starting at 5 am, other week finishing at midnight) but once i talked with my manager i had a chance to change to a shop that opened later and closed earlier. And once there i had morning shift every week with no rotations. And while i was team member i had shift from 13.30 to 21.00 so had enough time to study and to go out. Because of so many cultures i was able to have holidays on Christmas or Easter weeks. Got promoted to team leader at age of 21 in 1.5 years. Not to mention pret parties or friday night drinks, where you could enjoy some drinks for free. I feel bad reading those comments and see how pret changed within these years. And seems not for a better..
Pros
Free meals
Cons
Early shifts

Not a bad job to start
Team Leader (Former Employee) - West London, Greater London - 3 July 2022
It’s depends on where is the shop. If the shop is in a tough area or neighbourhood it will be ay difficult to handle the job. Other areas where normally people are polite is way easier

Horrible, unprofessional, discriminatory.
Team Member, Pret A Manger (Current Employee) - London - 15 June 2022
If you wish to work in a positive workplace then look further because pret is not that. If you are a young person managers and team leaders will try to take advantage of you because they believe you are naive and if you fight back there will be a lot of hostility. Higher ups play favourites if they don’t like you, you will be sent on many deliveries and if they do you barely have to put in any effort. There was also a lot of inappropriate comments made about the tourists that would come into work and they would make no time to even try to understand them. Also if you’re a person of colour be prepared for weird comments made about you. All in all just don’t apply here the only good thing is the people you work with. Also in the past month I’ve worked here there’s been plenty mistakes with pay, most recently during the queens jubilee the pay was late so a lot of people couldn’t afford to celebrate.

Fun workplace sometimes stressful
Team Leader (Current Employee) - London - 15 December 2021
I worked with wonderful people but the job is stressful. I was working at very busy store. My friends are working at small stores and it’s different atmosphere is much better. So I would definitely recommend working at smaller store if you don’t like busy environment.
Pros
Free food, bonus
Cons
Long hours, unpaid breaks

Worked for more than 5 years and I feel like the only thing I got from them is depression
Team Leader (Former Employee) - London - 15 September 2021
Don't get me wrong, if you are lazy and don't really care about what you are doing, you will find this job like every other job. But of course, everyone who cares about the job - will hate you. I can't express myself correctly on how many people like that we had and it was the biggest pain in the a**. However, the job itself is ridiculous. Before all the covid drama, although you had difficult days and you were stressing and running like a donkey, at least the pay was nice. After they cut the brakes, food allowance and etc. you started earning last money than before. Which doesn't make any sense as everything else increased in price. the job got harder and harder as they fired tons of people. They don't even have a recruitment centre anymore. They expect the managers to deal with everything like they don't have enough stress already. Overall, I am really disappointed by how this company went downhill. Of course, the people you work with become like a family and you don't want to leave. It becomes like a cult. And Pret makes sure to use that. Recently they brought back 1 pound bonus, which is simply just a joke. If you do like a fast-paced environment, you like working with food or customer service, you can find way better somewhere else. I don't recommend wasting your life there. I have been working there for more than five years, and I have never felt meaningless in life as much as I do now.
Pros
easy to get the job for anyone
Cons
stress, anxiety, low pay

You will become a slave
Team Leader (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 18 July 2021
Work for the last 2 years and it's getting worse and worse. They have the excuse of COVID to cut benefits and staff. There is never enough people to work. You have to do the job of 3-4 people for the same money you were paid 2 years ago. But according to the manager the shop is using too many hours. They just care about the company. When the staff has enough and decide to resign they will get new staff until they exploit them and they will resign. I'm always tired by the end of my shift. Just go home and take rest.
Pros
Colleages
Cons
Lost of benefits, wages, coffee subscription

Busy, super tight schedule, supportive
Team Leader (Former Employee) - Manchester City Centre, Greater Manchester - 3 June 2021
Great way to get a secure job with competitive pay rate and high chance for self development. Interview is dead easy. you are very likely to get hired and make it to a leading and managing positions without even being fluent in English. Although it comes with a price. Pret employees tent to be very loyal and highly Pret-focused. You’ll get boosted with pret standards so intensively that you might even lose common sense. Back to back, it is a hard work, everything is time scaled to keep up with standards and that can get a bit stressful. However..Being trained by Pret is very valued reference on the job market so it is definitely worth it to get that experience.
Pros
Free meals on shift, bonuses, uniform, secure job, great company overall
Cons
Long hours, high pressure, tight deadlines

Stressful and pressuring
Team Leader (Former Employee) - Manchester - 25 April 2021
Interview and training made the job seem great! But it was not like that in real life, management is shocking and lazy! Most colleagues unreliable and self-orientated(no team work). Early starts and late finishes. Expectation of staff from all levels (except training) to have no break ‘unofficially’. Unpredictable as to what day you are going to have based on managers/staffs mood due to amount of stress and pressure of demand of workload (short staffed with no help from managers) also where staff are situated throughout the shift can change (giving a feeling of inequality, choosing one over another). Only good thing limited free food, unlimited free coffee, pay(to an extent) and development opportunities(to an extent).
Pros
Limited free food, unlimited free coffee, development opportunities(to an extent), pay(to an extent)
Cons
Long hours, horrible management, inequality(selecting one over the other), no team work, unpredictable, develop only if a position is available in current branch(or others meaning transfers), pay is not worth the stress and workload
