What would you suggest Primark management do to prevent others from leaving?

  • Get rid of the hirechy.

    Provide decent hours, offer overtime but not guilt trip them if they say no. (That's what they did to me, they made me feel bad if I made plans etc and talked bad about me).

    You see managers and supervisers giving feedback on how to merchandise departments. It would be nice if sales assistants were included too.

    (Some of their plans and ideas never worked out, but forget that sales assistants have a brain and some creativity too).

    Some supervisers were lovely but there was always a horrid one.

  • The problem is store manager which causes the assistane store managers, senior departments and departments to become very stressful. 99.9% of store managers cant handle the pressure or do the job. Primark stores take 10’s of millions a year. Highest revenue stores you can work for. And understandable the pressure of being a store manager is a lot but they are very very well paid for it. Store managers will give it the old “ I start at the bottom nonsense now I’m a store manager etc” however they’ve only got their by using people and saying the right things at the right time not from working hard etc and this is why the management is poor because the wrong people are in the wrong jobs. Even with all the training management are given it doesn’t solve the issues.

  • Sometimes as a sales assistant. You would be working hard tidying the store and then often would see Managers gassing and not doing anything. But then as soon as they see something one the floor or something that's out of place they call you to do it even though you are in the middle of doing something else. They wouldn't think to do it themselves even if it was right by their feet. They are paid considerable more and can't even pick up a hanger off the floor. They would prefer you to stop doing what you are doing and and pick it up. Even if you were with a customer. Not all managers were like this. But a couple are like this and sadly think they are too good to do a basic task.

  • Train managers to manage rather than be cctv watchers
    Get to know your staff members

    Stop the bullying nature - it shouldn’t take years to do this

    Treat staff with respect

    Don’t be so strict with the shifts

    More benefits - minimum wage, no other benefits and bullying management no wonder staff don’t want to stay!

  • Introduce themselves to members of staff, greet staff members and male staff feel part of a team rather than making them feel like your bothering them

    Don't single out and bully certain employees,

    Treat everyone as equals,

    Listen to staff opinions,

    Management also need to follow their own rules, it's not 1 rule for us and not for them.

  • Take some training on how to talk to their staff and treat them with respect

  • Take some courses on how to motivate and talk to their staff

  • Hire more staff. Know that people can't do 5 tasks at once within a short period.
