Kind of sucks

Boring job, managers and supervisors would stand around in groups not doing anything. You can’t talk at all on shop floor even if you’re working at the same time. No music and no discount. Pretty much no benefits to working there

Great pay, fast paced, good to make friends

Primark have always had a great pay rate, and their breaks during 6-10 hour shifts are very good. Wouldn’t say this job is suitable for shy people, as it is very loud, busy and fast paced, alongside very customer facing and a lot of colleagues are very extroverted friend groups. Great for students or someone looking for a part time job.

Fast paced but well paid

At work i often had to deal with large volumes of customers and quick targets. I learnt how to work in a team and adapt to new ways of work. Some of the management were not very helpful and often disappeared when needed the most.

Its just a job

It's just a job. Management walk around scrutinising your work, walk past clothes on the floor and always expect you to pick it up straight away, though they are more than capable of doing it too, this is demoralising. Absolutely no team effort/work its lone work for the majority of the time unless on tills. They never show you what they want from you on the shop floor, they just assume you know, making it difficult for new workers to follow. Never heard of a single appraisal from anyone which affects morality all around, and if you look at the staff you will see it even as a customer. favouritism is a thing in this branch. There is always over time, however even if you say no they will keep pestering you. great ideas to run the store, just no follow-through.

Work hard no rewards poor management

I worked at primark for 7 years and it started great but after 4 years of so it took a massive dive it became a toxic place to work with bullying and lack of care. If you worked hard no rewards if you were loud confident and did nothing you became friendly with the managers and got rewarded with promotions of better hours. This work itself it boring and tedious with no change in the day to day shift. I think if you are a student it can be a fun social experience but as a full-time job it's quite awful.

Terrible place to work

Everything that you can imagine that's bad about a place like primark is bad, the internal is much worse than what the public see and the management is awful..I would recommend everyone to avoid working in this place and to infact boycott the company they have descriminated against many people I have worked with alongside myself.. and mistreat their workers on a daily basis.. please avoid working at primark as there is no reason for anyone to sink to that level and degrade themselves

Lovely place to work but short contracts

Perfect for students, offer loads of short contracts for people however hours and overtime are super competitive.People are lovely to talk to and very welcoming.

The management are rubbish. work there if you're looking for a decent job whilst studying but prepare to be treated like you're nothing to the company.

Inferior in a big workplace

The job itself is so fast-paced and hectic as it’s always so busy and gets messy fast. They don’t let you help or be collaborative with other employees on the floor and isolate you by assigning you to do something which can take ages and so is time-consuming.Because it gets so busy you will most likely always get asked to overtime, which is great if you want/need to make more money, but that also indicates how short staffed they are. Certain tasks don’t get explained properly so when you have to do something which from senior members you’re assumed to know how, gets frustrating and confusing. Their training could be improved massively. The job culture in itself is awful and awkward, I understand there is hundreds of staff/employees but no one makes an effort to make friends, everyone sticks to themselves and act reserved which makes you feel less inclusive and again isolated.

Great to start up

First few years were great, became less enjoyable overtime especially after covid. Ideas and thoughts would not be taken into consideration and sometimes management. Great place to start part time

Good Colleagues, awful management

Managers who expect the world of you whilst they sit around gossiping, any special requirements or alterations to the rota lead to being made to feel like a burden, even for the most reasonable of requests, often pressured during shifts to work longer

Fun but sometimes stressful workplace

I made friends for life but it was a stressful place to work at times. Often busy queues and customers upset especially during Christmas. Supportive management was very nice to have.

Awful place to work at. Treated badly by most managers who expect you to be in 10 places at once doing 10 different jobs. Was hard to get more hours if part time and overtime was a rarity before I left.

Typical retail job

Managers think they’re something they’re not, they all have favourites and if you do more overtime you’re more likely to get better perks like having Boxing Day or New Year’s Day off instead of doing both. Night shifts are okay as you get extra pay but no extra pay for working bank holidays

Staff are very hardworking especially week day staff. staff, but there is no adequate supervision from some of the supervisors and management.

There seems to be an imbalance in the workplace. One rule for one and a different rule for another. There are hardly any accolades for hardworking staff, and no incentives for staff, ie staff discounts all year round. Generally the floor is under staffed so there is severe pressure within the workplace on staff to be overworked due to lack of staff. The staff are very hardworking and we generally work well as a team.

Good retail place to start

Good place to work. Though had the normal issues of favouritism and unfair overtime distribution. Overall would suggest as good starting point. Little to no employee discounts though.

Fast paced environment with lots to do at all times, good working culture also and the hours are flexible, making it good for anyone at university etc

People seem decent and contract is not zero hours which is fab!!! Everything is planned - you get told your break time at morning briefing which is good because at my previous workplace I would get break 10 mins into an 8 hour shift. There’s a real team spirit and many things for staff to take part in - quizzes, bake sale etc and a lot of charity work!

Boring at times but a good weekend job

If you are tills its fast paced normally and I found it fun however being put on shop floor can be very boring in quieter times and you often find yourself walking in circles.
