Started as a new pass Class 1 driver and was just here to gain experience but still here nearly 5 years. To many drivers taking the mick and defrauding company over hours.
Easy going on certain sides of the company
To many different pay structures for doing the same jobs

Thanks for the feedback - glad to hear you still enjoy working with us 5 years later! Please feel free to contact your Transport Manager to discuss drivers hours and pay structures are under review! Thanks for all your hard work, and here's to the next 5!!!
Went as a tramper, I was put into someone's cab that was full of someone else's gear. I was told to look (and refused) through their personal effects to find something. Planners are not very good at their jobs and they tell you to pay for parking on night out and then don't pay it out. Made loads of lads redundant recently and are now looking for more mugs!
Not a one.
Juat about everything.
Worked to max hours every week I was eailsy doing 65 70 hours and still only taking home after deductions 550 if I was lucky that included £22.50 per night out (not paid if the planners made u stay at the home depot) £10.50 per hour. Planners couldn't even plan a walk round a roundabout trucks are very under powered its dangerouslocked into eco mode 52.8mph as soon as u come to a hill dies to 20/25 mph very quick to bill the driver for vehicle issues (tyres and flat batteries) even with no proof of drivers fault. And to top it off the want u to stay in a truck but won't provide a fridge or microwave just box standard basic truck. They don't give a monkeys bum about driver welfare or mental wellbeing
I was full time for a few months. Over all one of the best firms I've worked for.Only left as I need a 4 on 4 off life style. I'd recommend this company if your looking for a full time job.I was taking home just over 500 after tax most weeks
Good working conditions
Haulage is a challenging field to work in, but Keedwells takes pride in what it does. It has a very diverse workforce, which makes things interesting. It's hard work, sometimes long hours, but I like to go home feeling like I've worked well for my money. If you work hard and are nice to others, you will do well at this company.
I drive 4on-4off, so no complaints from me about excessive hours. Wages can always be better, but I'm salaried, so i know where I am every week. We occasionally get caught out, and have to run in on the fifth day, but that is the exception rather than rule. It's general haulage, so don't expect Monday to Friday, 08.00 till 17.00 working hours. There's builders merchants or supermarkets for that. The trucks are basic (and I detest Mercs), but you can not blame the company for the state that drivers leave the truck in. My truck is spotless, well, on the inside anyway. A lot of the trailers have seen better days, that's true. I dont recognize the "bullying" that the office staff is accused of, but then I've always found that you get treated as you treat others. Again, its general haulage, and that always has its ups and downs. I do my fair share of work, and am treated well in response. I
Steady work, not being chased all the time, treated faiy.
Highly recommended. Best boss I have worked for. Would love to return in the future myself. Fast paced friendly environment with recognition of your work ethic.
Great people within Carlisle depot
Salary could be slightly better

Not enough money for the hours. Expected to work until you drop. Have to hand in your notice to bring about any real change. No chance of a social life. Will change things around and drop you if you aren't one of the chosen few. Management are easily led and can't make or stick to decisions
I started with Keedwell as a new pass driver in South Wales. Fair play to them they took me on when others wouldn't, I got my own truck a 63 plate for the first month then was given a 65 plate which I kept through to finishing, 14months. I got to do a job i enjoyed in my own truck and get paid to do it. You'll get to travel the contry, doing a variety of work.
I’ve been a driver for keedwells for 18 months now. I’d describe the company as being ‘rustic’ which isn’t a bad thing! My cab is decent, I get a roof and I get to travel the country. What more can you ask for. Ups and downs with planning but I still get back legally so win win! The owner is tough but he’s fair, he’s dealing with haulage so who can blame him. If I wanted clean toilets and Clean facilities that all theses people keep complaining about I would off become a maid
Came in as new class 1 driver and after a month going back to class 2 work. I was a day driver and at times would still have to do nights out as I couldn't get back to the yard on time (even when I wasn't at all prepared for a night out). Was treated like a number and the biggest con was the low wage. Why anybody would stick to driving for Keedwells is beyond me.
Taken on as a new driver.
Low pay, poor life balance.
General work environment is dismal. Management lie to you and treat you like dirt. Traffic planners haven't got a clue what's going on. Don't even know where their own trailers are! Condition of the gear is absolutely wrecked, cabs are always dirty and grimey. Also they stink! They are basic and you can always guarantee a stained mattress. Pay is rubbish. Boss walks past you and doesn't even acknowledge you. No drivers lounge or anywhere to get any lunch. Lavatory facilities are absolutely disgusting, in addition - the drivers even have to use a different toilet than the office staff. Never know what time you're going to finish with this company, work/life balance is poor. Overall, would not recommend working here to anyone. Giving the haulage industry a bad name.
