Company has a toxic culture where you are encouraged to report on those around you. Additionally once they find out you have useful and novel skills above your pay grade and outside your contract they want you to use them without a pay raise. What i recommend is that go into the company but manage your expectations.

Poor pay for unsocial hours

Was originally from agency on poor pay then moved to poor hours which no one wanted to do 5pm to 11pm shifts every day. Then told they were going to give us a contract then next day decided not to . Then start of pandemic told we were being released from contract. Think I'm going to go back when needed to be released again I DONT THINK SO

worst call centre ever

this was the worst place i ever had the pleasure of working at, was promised so much at the interview 1 BIG LIE, high turnover of staff, had a lovely trainer who was there one day and gone the next, even though we are to give good customer service, just one question how in 4 mins, if your calls are for ever going over that time you are bought in front of your manager, and told if you dont speed up we will let you go, as i have said worst place ever avoid, i would rather have Covid then work here.

too much swearing!!

there was a culture of swearing on the floor from management down!, very uncomfortable as it was a contact centre so I was aware that callers can hear back ground noise.

Productive workplace.

Every day at the RAC brings new challenges and a fun outlook as the day begins really helps. Some calls can be hard as customers can get understandably irritated when recoveries are taking a little longer than expected. But the training received is excellent and prepares you fully for these types of incidents. In all this is a very rewarding company to work for with great benefits to accompany it.

Disaster

Complete joke: difficult, stressful, cold, big gaps, high overheads, no security. Abusive.Convoluted accounting procedures: impossible to budget.Could not recommend this to anyone.

Don’t bother

Company are shocking to work for. All etc are out to get each other, managers stalk your social media and the moment you post anything they don’t like they will have you in the office basically asking you to quit your job or stop posting on social media. Absolute joke it doesn’t even need to be about work but yet they still feel the need to control your life.

High call volumes, sales target pressure,

This job is not for everyone, if you want the opportunity to speak to lots of different people for long hours, resell a 'premium' brand to them and try and earn some commission then good luck to you. However the RAC might have changed a lot since I worked there. I found the goalposts were moved a lot when it came to paying my commission, and you need a lot of physical and mental stamina to do everything required of you.

Cons

Random shift pattern with poor work/life balance, little on-site parking, poor motivation, 'Us Vs Them' culture across departments.

Friendly environment and inclusive culture

I've been made to feel so welcome which is difficult when joining any business during COVID. RAC has implemented new measures and adapted itself to work around problems in order to make everyone feel comfortable and confident in their roles.

Miserable place to work. Morale very low because of how the staff are treated.

They treat their staff appallingly. Announce their enormous profits whilst reducing salaries by 20% because they can. They don’t care about their employees. Only their business needs and making as much money as they possibly can at their employees cost. Micro management taken to the extreme. Questions asked if you’re away from your desk for over 5 minutes eg if you need to go to the bathroom. Seldom enough holiday hours available if you need time off.

Terrible place to work

Loyalty means absolutely nothing. Worked for company nearly 20 yrs until they forced me into redeployment. Managers all think there something special. You will never get anywhere unless your a brown nose! Minimal training given and just left to it. No support from management. Very clicky environment, if your face fits u will be ok otherwise not!! Constant pressure from managers, constantly watching every move. Do not even waste your time with this company all you are is a number!

Racist environment

If you haven’t worked there for 10 years plus they don’t care about you also racist comments are acceptable as far as management and Hr are concerned.Plenty of evening shifts and hardly any holiday gets approved.

Stranded

Where to begin... Abuse from customers always, often due to the ridiculous wait times caused by poor communication between departments. The training was brief for what the computer system was to learn and it showed, those put on the floor with little grasp were quickly picked off and fired within days or weeks. Shift times not consistant. Call time aims not always possible but your to blame.

Good if you have little empathy or care and try to get your call times ridiculously low, managers ignore staff, abuse from customers, contimually changing policies making it difficult to give consistant information to customers, mental health issues

poor management rude customera

Very poor culture one manager has telescopic pole to hit you with becouse of cv19 thinks that's ok always have overtime due to short staffing. No support from management OK for customers having long wait times, don't breakdown after 6pm will be waiting from 2 hours to all night had some people waiting over 12 hours

Regrettable

It was the worse decision of my career to join the RAC. The role wasn't as advertised/interviewed and struggled with management/role expectations. Only certain management styles allowed and if you didn't fit then you are thought of very negatively. There was no sense of support or training to develop and consistently doubting myself, so certainly not a good environment for your mental health. There some really pleasant people working there and I wish anyone luck joining the company but i certainly wouldn't recommend it.

Very maternalistic business

This is a very maternalistic business where employees are not allowed to think for themselves. Very harsh targets and unrealistic expectations along with a very high staff turnover. Training on systems does not fully prepare you for use of live systems and procedures.

Face-fits culture

Advancement at RAC is only if your face fits, if you're pals with management. Your skills, contributions and abilities are not taken into account. Just looking across departments you can see areas of the business where incompetency is ignored and even promoted. Where it is discovered a new "unadvertised" role will suddenly be created and the problem shuffled away. Unrealistic expectations about work/life balance are also a problem, with little support or recognition for out of hours work. It's a 24 hour business but it's clear they don't want to pay for it. For some roles though the pay is above average, especially in call centre/customer service areas.

Bad from start to finish

Sell sell sell my manager was more bothered with battery sales then Customer satisfaction also always under pressure on sales targets. Working out in the rain been wet 12 hours a day to round it up a bad company to work for
