Good for starting off driving
HGV Driver (Current Employee) - Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire - 4 November 2019
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIf you want a job. Go there.
There is a shortage of drivers and shaunters everywhere. And Reed Boardall has casual contracts aswell as full time.
The induction is very nice and relaxed and easy to adjust to. And the vehicles are always newish and well maintained.

Brand new kit, decent money, family run business
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire - 7 April 2022
The welcoming training team now give new starters a full days induction training on day one, then its out with an experienced driver for rest of week. Take no notice of older reviews, they dont know a decent job when they find one, decent money now £13.25 - £15.85 per hour for clean easy fridge work on brand new Volvo FH globetrotters. All kit is clean and well maintained. DCPC available with the trainers at RB - the courses are actually really very good and the trainers are very knowledgeable . Rotas available to suit - from flexi working to full time, it really is as simple as you telling them what you want to work. Transport office staff are friendly and helpful regardless of what you read in the older reviews. Im in to my 5th year here and having worked in several driving jobs over the past 20 years this has to be the easiest i've had by far. Im a tramper - 4 on 4 off and its great for my home life, typical hours of any long distance haulage company, hardest part of job - opening the back doors on the trailer :-) Decent money, decent kit, great family business.

- Ability to learn new things
- Time and location flexibility
Make sure you are spot on at reversing or you will come unstuck at some tricky drops in London.
LGV 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire - 6 January 2022
Trampers start on 1st day just after midnight on day shift & your hours will be pushed back all week & your last shift of the week you will be back in yard with minutes to spare at 22.00 with a bit of luck & a back wind
Pros
Lot of hours if you want to earn & have no home life
Cons
If your face dont fit you get some terrible drops

New Equipment. Lots of hours available. Lots of training available. Bad/ Poor planning.
Class 1 HGV Driver (Former Employee) - Boroughbridge - 16 December 2021
Good fleet. New with brand new vehicles often. Heavily invested in Gas trucks which are good also. Vehicles interiors left in a state as a lot of agency drivers don’t care about the vehicles. I ended up cleaning the whole cab before getting in for my shift. Good opportunities for training and the driver trainers will help with questions and queries Some planners are good and some are really bad. Examples are running you over your hours. They don’t seem to care when advised. Expect day drivers to sleep with no kit when out of time. Always ringing to ask for ETA’s Communication poor between planners. You are told one task and then it changes around about 5 times until they agree on the task. Money is not the best. Not sure on current rate with the pandemic but you were on around £10.35 or around the £10 mark when I was there.
Pros
Lots of training available New trucks Driver trainers supportive
Cons
Poor communication from Planners, Vehicles left in a state from other drivers. Constantly being asked for ETA’s

Good Work and trying to change things for the better
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire - 27 July 2021
The hours are there if you need them. You can work hard but they do give you the option of a planned 12 hours rather than simply always push you at 15 hours. They are really trying to change and the interviewing and training staff were really pleasant and helpful. There is still some stuff to sort out but its definitely better than I thought it would be.
Pros
Clean and new vehicles
Cons
Can be pressed for longer hours but not always

Rubbish job
HGV Class 1 Night driver (Current Employee) - Berwick-Upon-Tweed, Northumberland - 11 November 2020
Great if you want to be worked all the time, management are useless, couldn’t organise a p*** up in a brewery, always sent to places that don’t have a load for you, tell you a start time then change it and expect your night or day driver to wake you up in the middle of the night to change even if you’ve only been asleep for a couple of hours
Pros
Your paid, half decent vehicles
Cons
Long hours, treated like trash, not appreciated, paid the same as a day driver, never know what your doing

Long hours
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire - 17 May 2020
Managers are ok, but give the planners any flack and it’s recorded what you said if and when you are up for a disciplinary nothing more to say you will make your own mind up
Pros
Get plenty of overtime
Cons
No respect for drivers

Great place to work, friendly people, excellent
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Yorkshire - 15 May 2019
Very good place to work, lot of new office staff at the moment who are not quite upto speed but overall good. Currently employed by R&B , hgv Driver, plenty of hrs, yes they do push you but what Company doesn't these days, went into Gloucester tonight to find the night Man on Reeds desk watching a film on his ipad, its either that or he is on facetime to his Mrs and screaming kids, oblivious that i was stood at the window, even the shunter was shaking his head.
But overall i have no complaints about reeds, alot of driver's would disagree, you can't please everyone, keep up the good work.
Pros
Company Health scheme
Cons
None

Hilariously funny place to work
LGV 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Yorkshire - 7 March 2019
Had to divert into our out base at Gloucester a couple of days ago , all office staff feet up on their smart phones or watching tv , I was told it was urgent but in reality I’ve been told and seen there are more class one drivers in the office with their feet up than drive out of Gloucester, no body in charge at Gloucester mates it a great place to night out tho
Pros
Hilariously funny company to work for
Cons
Having to take them seriously

Very interesting company
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - North Yorkshire - 4 August 2018
As a day driver they would still run you out of hours and you find yourself stuck out for the night. Started to take a small over night bag just incase.
If you said you couldn’t do a job within your hours they would use the line “are you refusing a reasonable request”
They had me starting at 0200 despite not wanting to!
There is a reason why they struggle to get local drivers and the company is now full of foreign drivers with interpreters on the transport desk.
If your happy to get treated badly fill your boots, if not there is plenty of other companies out there.
Pros
Take on new drivers, get a few months experience then move on.
Cons
No self respecting professional driver will stay here long
