Not the best job
Fast paced, not the best pay, store can get quite maniac and messy, I had set shifts which I liked as it was reliable and I knew what I was doing each week

Lovely people
I have met friends for life doing this job wages aren’t the best and huger managers like area and regional expect way to much from you. Made staff redundant but then got others in to replace the redundant staff
Floor Manager in Wales

Bogged down, over-worked and poor benefits.
River island isn’t very good to work for when it comes to work life balance, the hours can be quite unsociable and you will often take the thought of work home with you, stores are normally poorly equipped with manager, as you’ll have one store manager and maybe one or two floor managers and a senior sales. Depending on your location it can be really hard, you’ll be expected to do more than the average manager and be expected to go above and beyond at all times. Poor benefits such as sick pay, you will not receive any form of sick pay unless you are management and for that you would have needed to work for the company for 6 whole months to obtain only one week. Uniform allowance varies every season but is reasonable, however you’re not allowed to wear out of season stock and you cannot wear other brands, they do not provide enough uniform allowance for this. Progression can also be rather poor. You will also work 4 out of 4 weekends or one day per weekend per month. Stores new technology is difficult to use and often goes wrong causing major instore issues and unnecessary stress.
Stockroom Assistant in Meadowhall, South Yorkshire

River Island Meadowhall
Managers are so two faced it's unreal. The lack of communication within store is something to be desired. You'll be lucky if you get payed correctly! The amount of manual labour you have to do for the money you get payed isn't worth it. Stockroom staff are left to their own devices as Managers bearly monitor them, only time management come in is when they want new stock to be put onto shop floor. Absolutely no progress to be made within the workplace environment.Overtime is always payed a month behind (that's if you get it as you've got to 'qualify' for overtime I.E you have to do your contracted hours in FULL first) but this never gets mentioned.
