Roadchef selected this as a representative reviewI will arrive at work to be greeted by my colleagues. A normal work day is filled with fun and laughter. Sometimes it can get stressful but there is always someone like a manager, supervisor or just a colleague to help you out.

Horrible place to work

I applied to be a barista at this job and ended up doing everything but that. I felt very overworked for what I was getting paid and it was always understaffed. In the end I felt like I was doing a 3 person job especially when it got that busy and I had to run around witch was very stressful and exhausting. Most of the staff I worked with were very lovely people but at one point I ended up going into the back to a group of them screaming to the top of there lungs witch was not very nice, whilst I was trying to work. Management was rude and unavailable to speak to.

The work environment is great, some units are better than others, but in general really good, if you aren’t part of management or higher ups then don’t let work stress you out as it’s not worth it

Horrible place to work

I was hired the same as a barista and the whole time I worked at Costa Coffee I was on tables everyday and pot wash. I was told I would have to opportunity to go onto the unit but it never happened and excuses were made up. Management wasn’t good and barely replied. Worst place to work

Great place to work

Roadchef Annandale is a great place to work and always has opportunities to develop. There is a good company benefit scheme and the site is always doing things for their teams to be involved in to have a good time at work!

Not too bad

Its alright to work. have to be flexible and available to work weekends, early to late shift. The nice thing about it is the people works there, not the managers or their heads.

Long hours and zero support

Long hours constantly with no staff as budgeting sucks and absolutely no support or acknowledgment from higher up managers. Instead of trying to sort things out, they tell you off for struggling and not getting things done.

For me at Roadchef no two days are ever quite the same. There is a great team of people who help when things get tough. The site management are supportive and helpful as are the company support team. There are lots a company benefits for all staff and the company does care about the staff and offers help with things like cost of living and mental wellbeing. There are opportunities to work in other units which adds variety to the work. I would recommend Roadchef to anyone. It was the right move for me, and I am proud to be part of Team Roadchef.

Great place to work
2nd Assistant Manager (Current Employee) - Stafford - 22 October 2023
A typical day at work comes with many tasks and challenges which i look forward to tackling when starting my working day. There is always something to do and always something to pass time with. The management are great - they speak to everyone, make you feel as part of the team and look after their people. It is a great place to work as the people are all very welcoming, its more like a work family rather than work colleagues. The hardest part of the job would be the pressure from passing the audits to a high standard but in the same breath this is something that keeps you motivated and makes you look forward to going to work.
Pros
We get 2 meals a day at just 1 pound and from any unit within Roadchef, we also have a friends and family discount card, we also have a lovely team to work with and people who care.
Cons
We offer 5 shifts a week for full time vacancies and we are very flexible with our rotas

Rewarding place to work who's culture is changing lots
Roadchef is becoming a company which very much focus's on its people no matter what grade they are. In the last 18 months there has been a very postive change in stratergy which has put its people at the heart of everything it does.

£1 meals and good discounts which stretch further than just within Roadchef, Very flexible shifts patterns to suit most.
Cons
can be busy but usually have the staff to cover

Fast paced with a great team

Roadchef is a very fast paced business . It can be stressful at times however its fun with a good management team who look after you. There are a few incentives like the meal allowance, discount cards and more.

Great Company to work for

Roadchef gave me an opportunity to learn, grow and climb up the ladder. People within the organisation are friendly, supportive and caring. Everyone is treated fairly based on their performance which is financially rewarded as well as great recognition given for a job well done.

Terrible and toxic

This roadchef site is terrible. The staff turnover is insane and the management are unprofessional bullies. The higher up they go the worse they are. They higher only young people as it’s easier to take advantage. In about a year and a half there has been about 7 managers, some that only lasted a few days before they realise it’s not what they signed up for. Everything is always broken or really old. Also even if taken on for full time you will sign a 16 hour contract so if they want to cut everyone’s shifts to save more money on wages. They can. I do not recommend getting a job here unless you want to be severely depressed and overworked. The general team members are some of the best people you will ever meet but that is the only good thing about this site. It’s a very toxic workplace with unreasonable rules. If you are unwell in hospital, you will be fired for absence. they have no compassion or basic social skills.

Great Environment to Work in.

Good fast paced environment to work in. No two days are the same working here. Great team atmosphere whilst working . Challenging and motivational environment to be a part of. Great that we get to distress and delight our customers day in day out and make a difference to the UK's motorway users.

Productive and fun place to work

Stressful at the times, but not unmanageable. Helpful management, friendly staff, even managers above were very respectful, friendly and helpful. Very good pay too ! I might be coming back in future!
