Positive experience

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Hard work, good flexibility, opportunity to have a positive impact. Going through a turbulent time during the pandemic but continued to support their people in the best way possible.

Some good, some bad

Large scale design changes were interesting and challenging. Too many project managers and not enough people physically doing the job at hand. Recently there is less large scale design which dilutes the engineering challenge somewhat.

Lack of care for employees

Worked here for a couple years, lack of support throughout the outsourcing process. Lack of professionalism within managers and favouritism. Wouldn’t work here again, lead to a lot of mental health issues

Golden handcuffs

No sense of flexibility or ingenuity allowed within such a suffocating corporate structure. I got laid a lot but only learned a lot of business bulls… lingo.

Average

Average workplace.Reasonable pay and sick leave.Constant restructuring. Low morale. People can be supportive. Management is average and too many managers.

Relaxed workplace, great people

Love the people I work with, none of the managers are ever on your back. A very relaxed atmosphere, overall great place to be. Not very many group activities ever organised, but that could just be my site/team

Productive

The money is good but does involve shift work. There is usually overtime available at the weekends. The support from HR is good as is occupational health

Challenging but rewarding

In 7 years I've had 2 different careers in Ops Management and now Project management. Lot of opportunity to develop if you want to take it. The work has meaning.

Pros

Intelligent colleagues

Good place to work, slow

Good pay & benefits. Very slow and bureaucratic, they need to advance and apply some kind of standardization. Coming from a P&W shop to RR is a real shock. Being used to ACE ect, RR is stuck in the 2000s

Very stressful

No respect for people working through agency, one week shifts till midnight other from 6am so very exhausting

Great people but too much pressure

Thoroughly thought that the company is made of good people but blanket policy decisions, lack of staff in crucial positions, and lack of time devoted to non-critical path items means that the workday can often feel like a treadmill that gets faster by the day with no end in sight.

Great company poorly managed

Fantastic company to work for but managed poorly from the top down. Endless rounds of redundancies every few years to balance the books. Company perks and pay are good.

Capable work force, committed to quality but lacking culture

I have worked at RR for many years, it is a great place to work as an engineer. You get to be around incredibly smart and focused people with really high tech. things and there are a great deal of internal opportunities to grow and learn. Work can be high pressure but the support from your peers is excellent. If you wish, you could stay in a role for a lifetime and become a specialist or move around the company and try many different and diverse roles.I find everyone is committed to safety and quality.Flexible working opportunities are fantastic and work-life balance is great. One gripe I have is that there really isn't much of a work culture, cost cutting over the years has eliminated anything I would class as even remotely interesting about the work environment. Don't expect much socialising, Christmas parties or anything - unless you're going to arrange it yourself. Depending on where you're based your canteen options could be OK or extremely limited.

Pros

Flexible working

Cons

No work culture

Good place to work

Its got good salary to start but it does stay stagnant. Work life balance is good though. Good management too.

Company going backwards

Too many new staff including management who do not follow process or comply to rules and ask personnel to break safety rules to achieve job quotas, so i can only see the business failing in the future.

Pros

Good holidays

Cons

Long shifts with no work to do
