Fast paced hard working environment not for the light hearted.
PA/Medical Secretary/Research co-ordinator (Former Employee) - Truro - 6 January 2020
Fast paced sometimes stressful but worthwhile. I learned to be tolerant of others and listen to everyone's opinion. Hardest part was trying to get appointments for patients. The most enjoyable was satisfaction when you got the job done.

General Porter (Current Employee) - Cornwall - 1 October 2019
A rewarding job in a challenging but enjoyable atmosphere, learn new skills everyday, meet new people and face challenges you dont in other jobs. Its a job where the stress does not come home with you.

Hard working
Work Experience Placement (Former Employee) - Truro - 1 October 2019
The employees will do everything in their power to help and exhaust every available option no matter what the circumstance in order to give their best and help someone.

Poor management
Healthcare Assistant (Former Employee) - Truro, Cornwall - 31 July 2019
Really rewarding job but healthcares are not appreciated enough. They are doing half the jobs the nurses should be with no thanks at all. Management are poor and not supportive during times of bereavement. In my opinion it’s probably just this hospital not the NHS in general as I have heard many positives about other Trust’s and even another hospital within the same trust, but this one has too many staff who need a change, who are no longer in the job because they care.
Pros
Good pay and pension
Cons
Long hours, poor support, lack of morale.

productive and fun work experience
Shadowed a key member of staff (Former Employee) - Truro - 28 July 2019
it was a very fun place to go for my year 10 work experience week I learned how to do many techniques in many different areas of the care system so if anyone needed any support in first aid or anything like that I feel like I would be able to support them

Productive and very busy workplace
Medical Secretary/Support Secretary (Former Employee) - Kernowflex, Treliske, Truro - 27 July 2019
Too many Chiefs and not enough Indians !
I am a very professional PA/Secretary and have spent many years learning and perfecting my skills. Now after 3 years as a carer for my 90 year old mother (now deceased), I cannot get back into this sector. I think that they recruit from within but have to advertise the positions for legal reasons.
Pros
All staff doing what they can with the personnel they have
Cons
Too much work and not enough trained staff

Fantastic Hospital
Student Radiographer (Former Employee) - Truro, Cornwall - 3 June 2019
The Royal Cornwall Hospital is welcoming and it is an easy work environment, as you feel comfortable collaborating with very senior members of staff. The facilities are clean, welcoming and patient-focused. The shift work is currently a bit of a mess but the department is in the process of sorting this out.
Pros
Fantastic Staff
Cons
Shift Patterms

Passionate people constricted by lack of innovation
Office Manager for Medical Director (Former Employee) - Truro, Cornwall - 28 October 2018
I had a variety of roles during my time at the hospital, some more fulfilling than others. I learnt about persistence and perseverance to get the job done.
I found many of the people I worked with highly skilled and motivated, but the constraints of the NHS and the lack of trust and teamwork sometimes made it really difficult to get the job done.
The hardest part of the job was dealing with the red tape and regulations, the best part was working with some amazing people and learning how to motivate people in difficult circumstances,
Pros
Good salary and security
Cons
LAck of flexible working

Fantastic
Administrator (Current Employee) - Truro - 29 August 2018
Amazing and rewarding place to work. The work that the NHS do on a daily base if fantastic and the salary is great. The apprenticeship opportunities are worth having a look at if you have just finished college and are unsure of what to do in the future.

Ward Clerk
Ward Clerk (Former Employee) - Surgial Admissions Lounge - 28 August 2018
Working alongside diverse and varied Health Colleagues.
Fast paced environment, meaning no day was the same.
Nursing team were always happy and willing to help in all situations.
Management structure wasn't particularly helpful in addressing work load and seeking help in meeting time management guidelines ensuring these were both achievable and realistic and didn't aid in my personal circumstances; which sadly meant I had to look for alternative employment.
Pros
Security
Cons
Long hours - work life balance affected

good pay
Clerical Officer (Former Employee) - Truro, Cornwall - 1 August 2018
easy straight forward job with good pay. I was very young at the time so felt out of my depth working with older adults. However I was shown the ropes and picked it up very easily
