Lack support and progression

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Employed as a senior experienced nurse, all of my suggestions for improvement or change were ignored. Do not allow you to progress to higher bands unless your prepared to work full time

Fast paced hard working environment not for the light hearted.

Fast paced sometimes stressful but worthwhile. I learned to be tolerant of others and listen to everyone's opinion. Hardest part was trying to get appointments for patients. The most enjoyable was satisfaction when you got the job done.

Student Intern

The NHS is a great place to learn how a universal healthcare system is managed. It was an opportunity i was happy to take advantage of and would recommend to any one else.

Brilliant place to work when it works rightv

Great chance to give back the care and compassion. That I received as a patient. Different goals everyday Team work and understanding of the care we give to every individual. No two patients are the same.

productive

A rewarding job in a challenging but enjoyable atmosphere, learn new skills everyday, meet new people and face challenges you dont in other jobs. Its a job where the stress does not come home with you.

Hard working

The employees will do everything in their power to help and exhaust every available option no matter what the circumstance in order to give their best and help someone.

Poor management

Really rewarding job but healthcares are not appreciated enough. They are doing half the jobs the nurses should be with no thanks at all. Management are poor and not supportive during times of bereavement. In my opinion it’s probably just this hospital not the NHS in general as I have heard many positives about other Trust’s and even another hospital within the same trust, but this one has too many staff who need a change, who are no longer in the job because they care.

Pros

Good pay and pension

Cons

Long hours, poor support, lack of morale.

productive and fun work experience

it was a very fun place to go for my year 10 work experience week I learned how to do many techniques in many different areas of the care system so if anyone needed any support in first aid or anything like that I feel like I would be able to support them

Productive and very busy workplace

Too many Chiefs and not enough Indians ! I am a very professional PA/Secretary and have spent many years learning and perfecting my skills. Now after 3 years as a carer for my 90 year old mother (now deceased), I cannot get back into this sector. I think that they recruit from within but have to advertise the positions for legal reasons.

Pros

All staff doing what they can with the personnel they have

Cons

Too much work and not enough trained staff

Fantastic Hospital

The Royal Cornwall Hospital is welcoming and it is an easy work environment, as you feel comfortable collaborating with very senior members of staff. The facilities are clean, welcoming and patient-focused. The shift work is currently a bit of a mess but the department is in the process of sorting this out.

Pros

Fantastic Staff

Cons

Shift Patterms

Established Public Service Exemplar

With the focus always on patient safety, the NHS is an excellent place for those who wish to serve the public in their hour of need. RCHT is a fine example of an employer that values it's workforce and allows them to develop their skills in order to provide the very best service.

Passionate people constricted by lack of innovation

I had a variety of roles during my time at the hospital, some more fulfilling than others. I learnt about persistence and perseverance to get the job done. I found many of the people I worked with highly skilled and motivated, but the constraints of the NHS and the lack of trust and teamwork sometimes made it really difficult to get the job done. The hardest part of the job was dealing with the red tape and regulations, the best part was working with some amazing people and learning how to motivate people in difficult circumstances,

Pros

Good salary and security

Cons

LAck of flexible working

Apprenticeship

Have a look at the Bank and Apprenticeship roles! They have amazing opps for young people who are struggling with university or work choices! They provide great training opps and salary

Fantastic

Amazing and rewarding place to work. The work that the NHS do on a daily base if fantastic and the salary is great. The apprenticeship opportunities are worth having a look at if you have just finished college and are unsure of what to do in the future.

Ward Clerk

Working alongside diverse and varied Health Colleagues. Fast paced environment, meaning no day was the same. Nursing team were always happy and willing to help in all situations. Management structure wasn't particularly helpful in addressing work load and seeking help in meeting time management guidelines ensuring these were both achievable and realistic and didn't aid in my personal circumstances; which sadly meant I had to look for alternative employment.

Pros

Security

Cons

Long hours - work life balance affected

good pay

easy straight forward job with good pay. I was very young at the time so felt out of my depth working with older adults. However I was shown the ropes and picked it up very easily
