Work Experience Placement (Former Employee) - Truro - 21 July 2018
Very admirable and I am very lucky to have had a work experience placement there. It's a busy but with a great atmosphere of everyone working hard and giving it their absolute best. I couldn't credit the staff enough for what they do for the people.

Diverse, fast paced and rewarding.
Health Care Assistant (Bank) (Current Employee) - Treliske Hospital, Truro - 27 March 2018
This job role changes from day to day, and ward to ward. A typical day will include monitoring patients vital signs, taking care of the personal hygeine of patients and making sure all documentation is up to date and acurate.
I have learnt how to identify when a patient is declining in health and aid in preventing any further decline. I have also learnt how to deal with and de-escalate extremely confused or aggressive people and have great skills in time mangement and using my own initiative.
On many ocassions I have had to deal with emergnecy situations calmly, effectivley and patiently.
The hardest part of the job can be keeping a smile even when you are dealing with death, however I have managed to do this on countless occassions for the sake of the other patients, my collegues and the relatives that all need our support.
The most enjoyable parts of the job can be when your patient smiles happily because you have made them more comfortable, or helped take away their stress in some way and when you see a patient leave hospital well again, there is nothing quite so satisfying.
Pros
Rewarding and plenty of overtime available.
Cons
Lack of breaks during a twelve hour shift.

Poor management
Staff Nurse (Former Employee) - Truro, Cornwall - 22 January 2018
There are to many managers who are welling to walk over others to get to where they want.
There are good nurses there but there is a culture of blame in the institute.
The worst part of working there is the continous looking over your shoulder to see you are safe at work.
The best part was caring for my patients.
Pros
Pension2
Cons
No Support

dissapointing
Head Gardener (Former Employee) - Truro - 7 November 2017
very excited to get a opportunity to work here, however once I got my foot in the door I was completely astonished how backward everything was. I worked on the external side on the grounds, poor machinery, staff moral dreadful. and even though I had all the qualifications and was in a senior role my staff were on more money than me and without the correct qualifications. a soul destroying place to work. lasted four months. just a totally disheartening experience. so much responsibility and issues to take on that are already seriously wrong.
Pros
some flexibility with working hours
Cons
poor staff moral and too many people in shirt and ties being paid to cause problems

Healthcare Support worker (Former Employee) - truro - 5 April 2017
Its a very rewarding place to work. However some management are not good at supporting any problems. They are struggling to keep staff as its badly organised and overstretched. Many staff been there too long and lost the care ethic. I think its just that place and not the whole nhs. It needs a good shake up!
Pros
good rate of pay
Cons
doesnt support whistle blowing

fun workplace
Health Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Cornwall - 3 March 2017
i would have night shifts from 8pm-8am and i would start by hand over. ive learn to communicate more to people and making sure that i understand. also, the management have been so patient and helpful as i go with night shifts. hardest part of the job is having patients that physically hurt you due to mental issue and also staying up all night. enjoyable part of my job is meeting elderly and wearing their stories and having conversations with them.
Pros
good salary
Cons
long hours
