Decent and fairly relaxed job. Great in summer!

Decent place to work, home to pick the kids up, which is great and not to early starts. Pay was good when I started but has fallen behind a bit now. Overall decent job as long as you can out up with the rain every now and then

Great job, bad management.

Great work and decent pay for what you do. But you are supposed to get 1 Saturday in 6 off, but often you'll get one in 6 months. Management has got no idea and don't care about staff.

Great work with decent pay

Bad management and very rare weekends off

Unachievable worklad

Management constantly pushing for more, physically exhausting and they still think you should do more.Customers are often rude and do not realise the pressure we are under.

It was a fun place to work but can get very boring at times when you’re just standing about not doing anything when you are standing around the place. Fun place if like standing around

A really great place to work!

Regardless of other reviews, my experience at Royal Mail was very positive. There's always a good working relationship between staff and management providing you get on and just do your job. It's a nice atmosphere and overall a great company to represent!

Great working environment, good management, hours to work around you

Physically active at all times, need as much energy as possible as it is a fast paced environment.

Treated like a robot

Once was a good job but now it’s all about productivity and profits for shareholders at the expense of staff welfare/ health and customer service , Very physical job which so called managers think is easy , it’s not and they just want more and more work from you , has become a very physically and mentally draining job which I wouldn’t recommend for the way that you are treated like by ‘managers’ , I use the term manager loosely as they are either graduates with no knowledge of the business or failed post persons looking for an easier ride , but then trying to push you to do the job that they couldn’t keep up with

Horrendous management, lovely staff.

I only worked with Royal Mail for 3 months, and in my 25 years of working, have never felt such institutionalised fear from staff towards management. As a new member of staff, the constant threat of always potentially losing my job was threatened daily. Management has absolutely no sympathy for personal issues. Saw a long time member of staff harassed to come back to work, throughout their dad's terminal illness and then death. Had health issues myself, and while I understand its never great to take time off during a probationary period, I had no choice but to. Was harassed daily to come in, even though I was on multiple painkillers and antibiotics, and threatened with (then given) disciplinaries for being genuinely unwell! The whole time there was incredibly stressful. I really hope it is just the depot I was at (Musselburgh), and this isn't the same at every one. The sad part is, all the staff (apart from the manager) were fantastic. Always super helpful and had no problem helping to show you the ropes. However, due to my horrible experience, I absolutely don't recommend working here.

disrespectfull and unfriendly staff

Typical day is fast paced, no one seems to help each other out or respect each other, it's supposed to be a team effort in the mornings, but rarely seems to be, management don't have any people skills and don't deal with matters in a professional manner, they just get swept under the carpet and ignored. Its a job and pays the bills, that's it, very little job satisfaction, unfriendly place to work with lots of derogatory comments. Vehicles are a disgrace with being very tatty and not looked after. I would never recommend this job to anyone.

Early days

Unfriendly back stabbing staff and management

Good place to work You type data into a computer with speed and accuracy. It is a temporary position and getting work after is low because keyers are getting cut.

You either love it or hate it

It’s either for you or it’s not. Very physically demanding job, pays very well, always overtime. Managers expect you to be able to do overtime everyday.

Lovely people, chaos in van, parcels everywhere

A great way to beat cabin fever as you're out and about delivering parcels. After a 2-4hr walking route though the following parcel rounds get old fast. I worked 30 days in a row without a break when i first started for them.People try to crash into you for the insurance so beware at roundabouts....honestly, i see dumb people everywhere...never mind I have a child relying on me, and that loves me more than anyone in the world...crash into her so we don't have to move our lazy backsides...yeah, very, very stressful.

Goodish money

Great place to work. Plenty of exercise and fresh air. Great if you like to work unsupervised . It never felt like I was at work. Time goes very quickly and public always pleased to see you

No training just get on with the job.If you don't know the area well it can be incredibly difficult to find your way around be prepared to use google maps a lot.

Not for me personally.

Too much ,too stressful and physically demanding. To think you walk nearly 65 miles over 5 days is shocking. Not enough recovery time for me.Think about your long term physical and mental health. It got boring fast ,and hated it.2 days training and basically left.

Poor work / home life balance

Don’t bother

I wouldn’t waste your time. Management is corrupt. One rule for one, different for others. You’ll get bored, late shift sucks, no team solidarity, literally watch yourself
