Decent Place to work

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
It has been good overall. Simple and easy job. Good benefits. It is now in the process of making changes. Less Staff and more work. So this will no doubt change. Also nice management.

Pros

Nice place to work

Cons

Not much at this monument but I feel that will change

Paper round

Simple job but heavily underpaid and requires early waking. But can sort of set your own pace and good for personal fitness. But very long and heavy bags on saturday

Unfulfilled. Mundane. No support. Victimisation

Would never work for such a company again. Disgraceful place to work. Managers have little other no experience and are not at all helpful, mostly lack communication skills..

Not the job it used to be

The workload is too much now. It has increased gradually over the years and I feel too stressed and exhausted. There is inequality amongst workers as well, where some staff work harder than others. Management are aware and do nothing

Pros

The pay is good

Cons

Physically demanding

Amazing workplace

Good and easy work, helpful and great people, good-paying, flexible shifts. Good atmosphere at work, you do not have a hard lifting. It is a safe place to work.

Part time Relay Driver - Multi drop deliveries and collections

Typical day would start at 3am, load van with plastic boxes in drop order, deliver and collect to/from distribution centres and customers on a set route. Management seemed good and let you get on with it but also didn't suffer fools. Good place to work most of the lads seemed ok. Hardest part of the job was it could be heavy lifting at times. Most enjoyable part was because of the early start when you got the round done you were back and unloaded for about 9 or 10 am and still had the rest of the day to your self.

Productive and fun workplace, physically demanding job

Typical day at work is sorting out everything for the day ahead in the morning for a couple of hours, then out on delivery for the rest of the day mostly walking, some driving and dropping off parcels. Hardest part is that some days the volume of deliveries is more than others, which can be overwhelming and it doesn't help when managers expect you to clear everything when it's not possible to do so within the time you're given.

Pros

Early finish times

Cons

Very full on and little rest time

Pros

Cons

Fast paced, some great staff

There are lots of people who get away with doing next to nothing. On phones all time and stood talking, some of these are the managers. It’s not very well managed. I was lucky to be with one of the good ones and a great team but overall, management are pretty useless along with half the staff. This place could be so much better if they actually “managed” and got rid of the deadbeats.

Pros

Some good people

Cons

Majority of managers useless and lazy people

Not the job it was

Difficult after long service hard on the body. Not the job it was. Pressure to complete, no time for a break, toilet problems while out on duty. Stressful.

Pros

Out of rat race for too and from work commute

Cons

Pressure to complete workload in too little hours

Good company, bad management

Excellent when you get out of the office. Joined the company during pandemic and it has been stressful with the amount of work put on you. The rounds are gradually getting heavier but with little support and poor management means some frames are left uncleared. There is very little training BUT all colleagues are very helpful and willing to teach you. You must enjoy walking as it can be 13 mile days but time flies when your out and about

Pros

good pay for job role

Cons

heavy bags, poor managent

Fast paced, self motivated and never dull

I'm not directly employed by RM but through an agency. Both the agency and RM have been great to work for and i've not had any issues. They give you sufficient training for the job and provide a PDA for scanning parcels / planning delivery route etc. People who work there are friendly and helpful in my experience.

Stressful

Way too much work given for the amount of time you have. Zero training and management get annoyed when you don't know something you've never been told

Pros

Ok pay

Cons

Unhelpful management

Fast paced environment

I found the job in general physically demanding (save money on gym fees) Training very minimal but ok Can be stressful Work at you’re own pace ( if you want overtime speedUp)Given some uniform but not allOver the time you work you find out it’s all about seniority Good union if you need helpOnly 25 hours a week contracts offeredCome on Royal Mail give people full time hours instead of these fixed term part time jobs-over the years I have worked for RM they need posties so give new people full time hours

Pros

Get paid quite well Be own boss Overtime available

Cons

Parking on site is very limited .part time hours

Management are bullies

Not a nice place to work stressful and unreasonable management culture where they expected you to work for nothing and in your own time. Pension has been wipe out by the government not paying in the fund when they were the employee.

Face fits.

You're as good as your last shift the senior management changes so your value is only as good as the incoming manager feels. Friends quickly turn to backstabbers.

Pros

Great salary

Cons

Face fits culture

Un professional management

Very poor management. No training. No support. No information. You'll be sent out without a clue where you're going on your own. Management lazy rude and prioritise favouritism to those who are close buddy to them. No team work and some of management staff doesn't know why they are there for. Weekend more managers than staff. Total failure.
