Good pay, awful management

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Non-existent management who basically stand there and have a chat with each other. Rarely provide any initiative and solutions to any problems. They expect the employees to do everything themselves. However, the pay you get for the amount of work you do is fair and reasonable. If only favouritism were not a huge thing, then the place would have been more enjoyable to work at.

Not the best

Working evening shifts. If you're the managers' friend you're looked after. If not it is pretty awful as even the most senior management get involved in petty stuff. The floor staff are tired and worn out and have no one look out for them.

Was a good job and company, not anymore

Varying mail sorting tasks performed, both manual and mechanical in nature. The only thing learned besides the skills to perform the job is if you work hard there is no reward or reward recognition from the company. They don't care. Maybe a thank you from your line manager. Working hard won't in the long run make you any better off within the company should job opportunities arise or there is a restructuring of the company. Everything is metered out on seniority even if the person isn't best suited for the role. That or some non transparent alignment of roles with 'deals' done behind a closed door.A lot of staff do get away with not working hard and this I feel is part of a failure in management as they would just rather flog the people who do work than deal with people who will not.The company does work hard for the most part to be inclusive of different types of people from society. The hardest part of the job really can be putting up with boredom as the job is very repetitive in nature. The most enjoyable part if the job can be the people you work with. Employed are a very diverse group of people from all different backgrounds and life experiences, the vast majority of which are friendly and good to work alongside.

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Company making attacks on staff

Common sense job and the easiest job ever

Every day is an easy job for me as I love my work so much that I was grateful as this became my bread and butter that's why I am always honest of everything because I do not tolerate wrongdoings. I learned so many things at work esp. the attitude/behaviour of Managers they all clique together that they don't want the truth and they don't really care that's why I left because I was bullied many times by them. They do not like me because I am very straight forward that no one wants the truth but as I always tell them many times that nobody's perfect that we should learn to accept mistakes and learn from it to become better person. I still enjoyed my work and the only hardest part of the job was dealing with untouchable/inconsiderate Managers and other staffs that were cruel/horrible to me because I am very responsible with good morals/manners and with high standard work ethics that I always care for the company and my colleagues . The enjoyable part also was working as a team with people who are positive all the time at work as the job is just really common sense.

Pros

Good pay for me

Cons

Toxic Managers nobody wants the truth

Great place to work

Pay is excellent for the job, staff were really nice. Had the occasional annoying manager but nothing I couldn't handle. Just filling the word count now.

Fun workplace chilled out as Christmas temp

The management was slightly poor. Some days you would get sent home as no work but overall fun temporary experience. I’ve joined for 2 years now and would do it the third time for extra Christmas money!

Pros

Chat amongst your friends at work

Cons

Sent home early

S L e a z y place to work . Like a school playground with gossip and nasty .

Like a school playground, can be spiteful on a whole other level. If you’re a casual for Christmas then Royal Mail staff won’t talk to you . Management mostly useless and hit on you . The good thing is I think the money went up for Christmas casuals the following year .

Pros

It’s a job

Cons

Royal Mail staff

Over-worked

Bad management brought the place down, share holders have too much influence. Toxic work place now.Good pay, but hard workers will be exploited whilst the lazier staff will get away with it.

Good pay, work life balance, very less hours ,

It’s really good pay. Sick paid. Break is okay. But management is not good. Busiest time in evening. Work life balance. To be Physical fit enough. Some people don’t care what they do.

Good place to work

Great team of co-workers, work isn't challenging, feel like you are part of a team. Occasionally, depending on manager different shifts can be more or less enjoyable. Some are great and have trust in you to get the work done, others run the shift like the work wouldn't get done if they didn't hover over you and challenge you on how much you've done.

Friendly colleagues and managers, easy to work.Good salary and work environment.Keep you fit and healthy.Heavy lifting job and heavy workload at night.
