Reviews for Cleaner at Royal Mail

Great job

Started working here as a cleaner back In 2022. I desperately needed a job and they got in touch and within a week I was hired as a cleaner. I work on my own and am left to own devices. It's nice and relaxed and the pay is good but only because I live with a friend so the salary is manageable especially when it's an hour a day for six days a week. Management is ok, when I ask for inventory I get it pretty quickly. Training is always up to date and everyone is nice and talkative. I was scared at first, as a transwoman I wasn't sure how it was going to go but everything has went great. My reason for resigning is I'm also a carer and right now I can't juggle with work and being a carer among other duties I have.

Pros

Nobody looks over your shoulder

Productive on a daily basis, but overall no contact or continuity between different management levels, and general communication is poor.

Communication between all levels of management was poor, which resulted in poor working relationships and task confusion and failure.General on-site atmosphere was devisive and unwelcoming, outdated attitudes were not often challenged.Initiatives to improve working relationships were quite often ignored or not encouraged in a positive manner.

Pros

Subsidized meals Uniform provided Sub management manager

Cons

Long hours Poor union representation Lazy senior management

It’s a job

It’s a warehouse job at the end of the day. The things I had to clean it the warehouse toilets were absolutely disgusting. Staff blocking toilets with toilet paper, making them completely overflow. Pulling the toilet doors off the hinges. It was shocking how badly people left the toilets... As time went on, the warehouse floor was getting dirtier and dirtier, even though we all swept daily. I personally believe a lot of the staff working there didn’t have much respect for the cleaners. The work however was easy enough, do your job and go home. You’re not really hassled by upper management, and you’re allowed to take breaks which was nice. The canteen area and the soft seating area are nice places for breaks. The canteen staff are lovely, and there’s multiple vending machines, including a hot drinks vending machine which is quite cheap.A lot of the staff working there are quite friendly, they’ll give you a smile or say hello. There’s others who’ll just look at you, but surprisingly I didn’t experience any majorly rude people.

Pros

Allowed multiple breaks, nice canteen and soft seating area

Cons

Good luck cleaning certain areas, that’s all I’ll say.
