Corporate Governance team was great to work with. IG Manager was very hands on, knowledgeable and supportive. The Associate Director of Corporate Governance was also very supportive too and knowlegeable. Other colleagues in the Legal Team were exemplary and very helpful, A great team towork with. Sadly it was a very finite short term contract, but would highly recommend the RMH to anyone wishing to progress their career.

The work never stops and if you don't keep some of yourself in reserve it will swallow you or you will move on to your next role elsewhere. In fact this is a great place as a stepping stone. Don't stay too long as you will end up carrying more responsibily than you are remunerated for...and will find it very difficult to get away from. Lots of great colleagues and training but getting cover when you are away is very difficult.
I have worked for the the Royal Marsden hospital for over 39 years along with friends I’ve made the working environment is second to none. Being a specialist cancer hospital every member of staff is dedicated to patient care and well being. Team work is a major part of working at the Marsden along with compassion and empathy. The Marsden offer staff benifits and staff recognition, all in all an excellent place to work.

- Low staffed - expect to take on x3 people’s worth of work and to be treated as if you are lazy and stupid. - Toxic managers - Blame culture - if you don’t finish your x3 people’s worth of work expect to stay late till it’s done (even if that’s till 8pm after starting at 8am) and then be grilled by your manager about why you are so incompetent that you had to work overtime
The Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a hospital working at the cutting edge of clinical science. Phase 1, first in human, trials are conducted at the hospital, directly leading to breakthroughs in new cancer treatments. The nurse / patient ratios are high, meaning you'll usually have no more than four patients to look after per shift on the wards. The culture is demanding and at times hypercritical without always offering the training and support the management claim they provide.

Arrived at the placement and experienced working in different environments (wards, community and hospital) for full work days. Developed time management, clinical and communication skills by engaging with patients and other professionals. Faced challenges on ward rounds while keeping up to date with medical reviews.
Good work environments
Good hospital to work in. Opportunity for career development. Problems more to do with how NHS is run and government targets rather than the hospital itself.
General administration and answering phone calls from patients and healthcare professionals. Keeping the inboxes within service level. Working through service waiting lists and dealing with any outstanding enquiries or missing paperwork. Learning new skills and information within the healthcare service, how it runs and any new changes which are made.
Weekend work, shift work, no incentives.
the royal marsden was a great place to work other departments and wards was all very friendly. this was a place where you were kept busy and it was very fast environmt just a shame did not appreciate their staff
