Do not apply

New manager is not nice at all. If your face doesn't fit. You will be out. Stressful 12hr shifts.. I wouldn't bother.. If you want a social life please don't apply

Pros

Paid every week

Cons

Too many to name

Stressful environment

Stressful environment to work. Constantly short-staffed and no effort from managers or directors to bring in agency staff. Complaints from management and family members is constant. Staff are underpaid and not motivated to work.

Pros

Free lunch.

Cons

Underpaid, undervalued, not supported.

Poor management face has to fit

No job security go through staff and spit them out no support or respect for what you do If your face fits doesn’t matter whether or not you can do your job which means some very poor managers in place who not up to job

Pros

None

Cons

Long hours no work life balance no support

Shockingly Awful

Massively under staffed even when everyone turns up for their shift. Always working short staffed because no one wants to work there. Management is awful, they don't listen and don't care. It seems like all they are bothered about is the money and not the actual lives of the residents. The wages prove how much they don't respect or value their staff. You end your shift every day feeling like you're awful at your job because you couldn't get everything done that you've been told you need to do and because you havnt had any time to spend with the residents who are bored and lonely. To be a carer in a runwoods care home is impossible, fighting a losing battle, constantly under pressure and exhausted.

Pros

There isnt any

Cons

Too many to list

Caldwell Grange

One of the best managers I have ever worked for who is fully involved in the home and has a knowledge of all their staff and residents. Lovely home to work in its more of a family that your welcomed into and supported. The home has a lovely atmosphere.

Pros

Good staff support and recognition

Working in a care enviroment is hard, but can be very rewarding. The most important part of this job is to have the residents wellbeing and needs adhered too.Runwood homes do their best to look after their staff.

Pros

working as a team

Do not work here

My experience at Runwood was not good. The staff argue with residents, equipment is not fit for purpose. Not a nice atmosphere at all. Would not recommend this place at all for residents to live there or staff to work there!

Tiring and stressful

Nothing but stress understaffed constantly, leaving a 17 year old to manage an entire floor by then selves, staff are friendly but the job is too much for what you get paid the effects afterwards are not worth it

Terrible management, very unfair pay

Absolutely terrible company to work for, do not in the slightest care about any of the staff that works for them. Care assistants which hands down do the most work in the entire home are the least thought about and are bottom of the food chain when it comes to pay. Care team leaders have a lot of responsibility for buttons of pay and they wonder why they can’t keep good staff. Cooks are more thought off and paid higher than anyone in the care team including care team leaders. Wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. During the pandemic which was very stressful time especially for the care sector, staff never got as much as a pat on the back. Terrible company management does not value their workers or fight their corner when it comes to the pay they deserve.

Pros

Going home

Cons

Over worked and underpaid.

Nice place shame about the manager

Constant changes of management, changes of working schedules without asking and expecting you to be available at all times and not have a life outside of work.

Pros

Friendly staff

Cons

Bad management

Extremely Poor communication

Very disappointingly , from a successful interview and initial job offer , no further communication from home. On 4 occasions they failed to return calls and manager redirected calls . Job now readvertised . Worrying indication of their people skills, communication and how they respect staff and others

Toxic atmosphere

No support from management, the atmosphere between some of the nurses and the care staff is toxic it’s almost bullying , as a nursing home you’d think we’d all we working together for one common goal , the residents well being

Pros

Can’t think of one

Cons

Long hours, bullying management system

Would not recommend

Would not work here again it’s horrible staff are not welcoming and rude it’s very clicky, manual handling is so bad and food safety is shocking would not recommend you are over worked and under appreciated always being asked to do more shifts as they are understaffed the residents are great but that’s the only positive

Pros

Paid lunch

Cons

Horrible staff

Understaffed and overworked

Never enough staff on shift, moral is at its lowest point, no support off management, nothing you do is ever good enough. So many carers have been off sick due to mental health and the company makes you feel worse like you are a part of the problem, there is so much turnover with the staff.New staff start work a couple of shifts but dont come back as they find it too stressful. The management are pushing carers to work as ctls without the proper training.

Pros

Paid lunch break on nights

Cons

Understaffed, stressful, no support

Great team with a unique family feel

I’ve worked at my home for a couple of years now in a number of positions (care, CTL and now deputy) and I’ve always loved being a part of the team no matter what colour uniform I’m in. The staff work well together, the residents are always smiling and singing along with music as well helping around the home with support. It’s a real home environment with a fantastic family feel. Previous manager was a great leader as well as a terrific mentor to me and I hope thanks to her guidance I’ll be that support for my team now as I step into the management position.

Pros

Progression of career, great communication, fantastic support from upper management

Friendly staff, Supportive manager

Gattison House has a friendly mix of staff who support each other and work together as a team. Gattison currently has an excellent manager who genuinely cares about the well being of her staff and, along with the other senior members of staff, she strives to ensure that everyone is listened to and always finds time to help sort out any issues that may arise.
