Competitive salary?? Really??
Window and Door Installer (Former Employee) - Crayford, Kent - 18 December 2019
After a very positive briefing of the company’s history, targets and future plans on the day of my interview I was then offered the job.
It was a Friday afternoon and I was asked would I be available the Monday after next.
I was and from then I was looking forward to start my new job at Safe Style UK.
At first everything was just how I was told in my interview. Brand new van, PPE, all required materials needed per install.
However, no need for a van, PPE and materials if you have no installs.
This is where my experience at Safe Style UK was most definitely one to forget.
Main reason why I applied for the vacant position was the competitive salary and the fact there was so much work that if I wanted I could even work weekends.
The company works on a rates basis paid per item installed. Shared equal with your college as you work in a team of 2.
I would be lucky to get 3 or 4 items per day to install. More realistically an average of 2 items per day and towards my very short stay at Safe Style UK became 4 days a week then 3 days a week and 1 item per day to install.
It came to the point where I was paying to go to work as the fuel allowance was not sufficient.
Can’t fault the company for supplying everything needed such as a van, PPE, uniform, materials and the necessary training required.
But like I said what’s the point if you have no installs and making no money.
Pointless!
