Too many cooks with little intelligence
Service representative (Former Employee) - Bedford - 7 May 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe company is a mere shadow of its former self, used to have management who understood what was happening in the industry, made sensible decisions and respected it's staff.....now all the company cares about is making the most profit possible for it's next sale on the stock market and in the process treating it's staff like idiots and not respecting them as human beings.
Pros
Good holiday entitlement. Monday to Friday
Cons
Long hours. Not respected. No thanks for working longer hours. No overtime pay

Worst place I’ve ever worked at!
Safetykleen rep (Former Employee) - Montrose - 8 September 2023
Upper management are terrible, they don’t care about their employees, services are all they think about. Employees welfare, conditions and rights are out the window. Seriously if you want to maintain your sanity do not work here! Most recent manager, is the worst manager I’ve ever worked under. The whole management style is bullying, passive aggressive and at complete odds with employee wellbeing. HR team are a complete waste of space. My 10 year old could do a better job of Human Resources. Seriously people, if you’re looking for employment, look elsewhere. These people are disgusting.

Worst company ever!
Sales/Service Engineer (Former Employee) - Stirling - 6 September 2023
I worked at the Stirling branch for over a year without any training provided at all! This was promised to me but never done! Then the management expect you to be able to do your job but haven’t provided the relevant training. I also had to use someone else’s old uniform that did not fit me, I asked for my own for 4 months and surprisingly this never happened either! I would stay away from this company for sure! Management don’t have a clue!
Pros
Hometime
Cons
Everything about the job!

Support rep (Former Employee) - Montrose - 5 September 2023
Used to be great place to work but since greed of upper managment and usless branch managers specially for stirling and montrose branches run by a complete imbecile who hasnt got a clue how to manage people all they care about is getting big bonus and making sure MD loves them! Like title says STAY CLEAR at all costs!!!!!
Pros
Free tea and coffee

Used to be a great place to work.
Sales/Service Engineer (Former Employee) - South West London, Greater London - 21 May 2023
Safetykleen used to be a great place to work if you’re good at your job role. great work/home life balance. Pay is decent. However, times have changed and the whole structure has been turned upside down. Work/home life balance has been taken away by the MD who has demanded you will work more hours in certain job roles for the same amount of money. The company are constantly putting price increases onto customers accounts which resorts in you receiving abuse from the customers on a daily basis all because the company are being greedy and raising profit to sell on the company. There is not enough staff for the job roles in the depots, they have forced the hardworking staff out. they pile everyone’s workload on you to save on salaries. Until the company realise they are losing great customers and keeping hold of the terrible ones. Losing great members of staff and keeping hold of the ones that don’t pull their weight. Constantly stressing you out by being micromanaged. No work/home balance. Then I would avoid this job at all costs. It’s no good for your health.

New management are only interested in profits and targets
Service Representative (Former Employee) - England - 18 May 2023
The recent management team are only focused on the value of the company not the value of there employees or customers. Which is totally destroying the brand. Constant changes on a daily basis, micro managed. The job titles given are so misleading,I guarantee after the initial induction you will want to leave. As I have seen many 10s of new starters leave within the first month. If you have no social life and you are willing to have your personality and confidence destroyed then this is the place for you.
Pros
work colleague's and customers
Cons
Demoralising, character breaking, stressed, micro managed

Overworked, not respected
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) - Stirling - 21 March 2023
Job is decent but management expect you to constantly work unpaid overtime. No appreciation from management for working more than required and the more you do the more they expect.
Pros
Good job
Cons
Long hours, low pay for hours worked

Rip of merchants
I worked from Bristol depot for 15 years, left about 3 years ago, needed to get this said to warn future employees. Firstly your commission is paid 1 month behind which is to be expected, what I didn’t expect was to have it taken from me. I handed my notice in, gave 4 weeks as they requested, so on my last working day I got paid minus the previous months commission, approx £1000, when I queried this I was told this is just how it is, I was furious after being there 15 years. Not only did they take this from me but the commission I earned during my 4 weeks notice wasn’t paid either so lost approximately £2000. What annoyed me even more was the fact that if I hadn’t bothered giving notice they’d have paid my commission as they’d have been none the wiser, so by doing the right thing I lost out on at least £1000 commission, absolute parasites.
Pros
Good bunch of lads on shop floor
Cons
Inept management

Terrible
Rep (Former Employee) - Scotland - 14 August 2022
Upper management are out of touch. Pay is bonus driven which changes year by year so you’ll ultimately make less money but do more work as time presses on. Equipment is from the Middle Ages. Truck and vans are all poverty spec. If you’re good at the job you’ll be expected to pick up the pace for the staff who clearly take advantage! Definitely watch you back as they’re all snakes
Pros
No experience needed
Cons
They’re all snakes

Disorganised chaos
Sales and service engineer (Former Employee) - Montrose, Angus - 16 July 2021
Words fail me. No direction, no leadership simply firefighting on a daily basis. Low staff moral and zero support for the team from the regional manager, As the company is run from London the phones don’t ring the local branch should a customer need to get in touch with a question, query or Sales enquiry, instead they are directed there leaving Unhappy and disillusioned customers not responded to or ignored regularly, alien as someone that comes from the customer service background. Employees at a certain level are treated as 2nd class citizens and this is reflected in the way the company avoids paying you what they are due without sales commission. The OTE is a completely unrealistic figure as there is someone in this role, a sales executive and an account manager all looking for business often from the same companies and so the 35k figure is picked out of thin air and certainly not an achievable income with this structure. My advice, avoid unless you are completely desperate.
Pros
Early finish
Cons
Disorganised environment

Having begun here at SK 8 weeks ago, I have found the business to be a wonderfully engaging place to work. The staff are all knowledgeable and have helped me settle in quickly. I'm glad I made the choice to come and work for the business.

Fantastic place to work
Account Manager (Current Employee) - Scotland - 2 June 2021
Safetykleen is a fantastic place to work, everyday is different and comes with it's own unique challenges. Management are very support of the staff and the culture is fun but with a competitive edge. The job differs from day to day and you need to be able to work at a pace to be successful. No two days are the same and the benefits are great!
Pros
Great working environment, commission structure and flexibility.

Telesales Executive (Current Employee) - Brentford, Greater London - 2 June 2021
I work in the telesales department for SafetyKleen. Cold calling businesses to see if they may require our services. Staff are friendly and will give advice if needed. They have a strong focus on being environmentally friendly. Great Company

Hardest place to work in my 22years of working.
Regional Sales Manager (Former Employee) - Various Locations - 6 January 2021
Poor level of support, management weren’t there to help, I felt like a kid in a school playground with no one to turn to. I felt I did as well as I could under the circumstances. The company is run by the staff, the staff that have been there for years. It was a free for all and I felt I had no support and when attending managers meetings with directors present the hierarchy didn’t like to hear what is lower had to say or ideas we put to the table.
