It’s hard to say....

Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedPros: Their nursery for the staffs children is amazing and Ofsted 1. IT team have worked really hard to get us working from home. Apprenticeships available. Flexible working in some roles. Cons: Management do not care about your well being, only the figures. Every second of your working day is monitored and scored against targets you even get a ranking in your team about how good/bad your doing. Lots of redundancies. POOR wages for under-management roles and they fail to increase them every year in a way that the employees deserve. They will tell you how much profit the business is making in the same breath. No freedom of speech. Multiple staff off sick for stress, many heading that way. They offer the chance to speak up with mental health issues but as soon as you do your shut back down again and told to get on with the job. No career progression so you get stuck in your job. They will ask you however to increase your workload and help other departments, which is probably why there are no job opportunities because they source the extra hands from elsewhere. We have staff surveys now, but the responses to our complaints are like ‘huh, give us an example’ or ‘I’ve never witnessed that’. Pure denial. Oh I could go on, it’s so disappointing.

A fun but hard working
Finance Assistant (Former Employee) - ENG - 23 January 2014
typical day at work would be having a laugh but having to get set work done in time when asked, I learnt that no matter where you work and how long you've worked there for you will still find yourself in a happy friendly environment if your happy with the work that has been set for you that day, if not and you don't enjoy working with those woe there too or you don't like the work place your at then you know that your in the wrong working environment.my co-works were always there for you no matter what, if you need help with a part of work that your not sure on doing they will help you out, but at the same time as working hard you can have a laugh and know you can have a good days work. the hardest part I found working in saga was the long hours I was given, starting at 9;30 -8-30 at the latest , sometimes a more earlier star depending on the takes of the day. the most enjoyable part of the job was, photocopying, seeing all the different types of work that other had to be getting on with and how saga works as a hole.
Pros
luch break being hour long
Cons
long hours

Shocking to work for
Sales executive (Former Employee) - Hastings - 8 January 2014
I worked at saga for nearly a year as a sales agent, still to this day I don't know how I managed it!
Poor communication between managers and staff. Managers quite clearly have their favourites and make it obvious. No career progression even when you make it clear what you want.
Pros
Made good friends!
Cons
Awful hours, always change shifts, never get approved holiday

Jobs at Saga
Poor management and utterly disparaging.
Sales Agent (Former Employee) - Hastings - 19 April 2013
Working for SAGA is equal to being encapsulated into George Orwell's book 1984, the book serves as a succinct allegory for a typical day in the life of a SAGA employee. From the moment you begin your day you are monitored by a computer based productivity measuring system and if you do not conform to their targets for any reason you will be subject to a disciplinary and/or fired. The managers treat their staff like children and constantly bombard them with unnecessary pressure in a disparaging manner; being threatened with a disciplinary is a common tool used to incite fear into their employees. Employees are commonly exploited and withheld from their basic workers' rights, such as the taking their right to a 10 minute break on a full-time shift. SAGA regains a modicum of appraisal in regards to their pay; for a telesales role there are realistic benefits to achieve well in a commision based pay system - commision is used as an incentive to influence better sales performance. Although, for the most part, do not expect SAGA to be a reliable or long term employer. They hold no loyalty to their staff and will cut anyone loose using their powers of HR bureaucracy and their monitoring systems to backup any case.
Pros
commision based pay, good temporary or part-time job.
Cons
poor management, very bureaucratic, constantly monitored, constantly and unfairly pressured, little job security, few opportunities to progress.

Repetitive and lonely
Customer service (Current Employee) - Hastings - 19 April 2013
Six weeks of training that gives you the idea that you're really going to enjoy the job when you get on to the floor. After those six weeks are up and I joined my new team I wasn't welcomed into it at all. The manager didn't introduce me to anyone and I got sat far away from everyone like an outcast and far away if I was to need any help. The job is very boring ans repetitive, sat down all day and go home at the end of the day with a pounding headache.
Cons
just a number not a person

just a big company and the staff and clients are just numbers to them
senior support worker (Current Employee) - exeter - 13 June 2012
it is hard to say much as they have not even owned the previous company a year yet so nothing positive has changed yet.All I can see is buying care agencies is just about proffit and not about providing a better service which is what is portrayed by the big companies.Another big company owned our agency before SAGA and it was just the same PROFIT and meeting targets .When the agency was owned privatly by our manager it was about providing care and not about greed.
Pros
carework
Cons
no payrise for approx 5 years

a solid company to work for
care supevisor (Current Employee) - East Sussex - 9 June 2012
my typical day would include me starting at 08:00 doing about an hours worth of paper work, and then from 09:00 we open i would then be dealing whith any issues ranging from missed calls to theft and safgarding issues. i tack on new care packages and have to go out and make assessments to weather we can except these clients and carry out risk assessment and issue a full support plan. i deal with the hospital, doctors, rehab places and most of all social services. every 4 weeks we under go a audit of files and records from the saga main office in folkstone. i also have to deal with care staff on a daily basis with any isses we may have involving disaplin as well as mantaing standards of the cqc. i have learnt a lot inregards to cqc and policies as well as safgarding and auditing, as well as maintaing contracts with brighton and hove city council. regular meetings with the area buisness manager and opps manager as well as senior staff meeting. the hardist part of the job for me is fitting it all in to one day as there seems to fue hours in the day but we simply make time and stay late if we have to. i get on really well with my co workers it is like a family and we all go out on regular staff outings once a month this helps keep up the team and i think that this is important for a good working team.
Pros
grate place to work, with the added benifit of learning new skills
Cons
very long hours that can run into 53hours + a week

productive and rewarding job role
thirs party pro active claims handler (Current Employee) - ramsgate, kent - 30 May 2012
My current job role involves assisting innocent third parties in non accident motor claims. I have a fantastic rapport with the public both over the telephone and face to face and am a very patient person. The most enjoyable part of my current job is being able to assist an innocent person who has not been at fault for a road traffic accident and helping rectify their situation.
